Lols, that's so 20th century bro. The new age way to do it is to build a company with private equity, hype it up a lot to inflate the value, then IPO the company. Best to do it when the bubble is nearing it's maximum, so the pop doesn't affect you, it affects the everyday folks' retirement accounts that just heavily invested into the IPO. After the IPO, you, your cofounders, private investors and early employees all dump stock, thus causing the bubble to pop. The IPO is no longer the entrance strategy, it's the exit strategy.

I faintly recall hearing about this. Do you know if they ever caught the robbers? Post robbery, how would someone even move $18 mil worth of syrup to market without anyone noticing there?

If you're just in it for meat, as the saying goes...

If it's brown, it's down.

(Do know your local regs and only shoot legal deer though, OP)

What point are you trying to make here?

If it's that future theories and discoveries may conflict with present day theories and discoveries; therefore, we should not trust any present day theories and discoveries... Well that would be quite an ignorant thing to do, turning your back on all established knowledge and the methods that created the modern world.

Could a future theory provide a different age to the universe or even describe the universe as infinite and that theory becomes widely accepted? Sure, that could absolutely happen. But right now multiple lines of evidence point to a finite, well-known age of the universe.

You can't just say "I don't accept this conclusion because some day we may discover evidence that disproves it". You must find the evidence that disproves it first and then put that proof forward to refute the conclusion. The burden of proof is on you, the one with the novel claim.

This response, especially your three part definition of science, is utter, navel-gazing horseshit. No parts of that recognize how foundational communication, collaboration, consensus and contradiction are to science. No one person can do science. It's a group endeavour... And the group who actually studies this stuff (time, space, the universe and cosmology) widely agrees on a finite age of the universe.

You're just some bot on reddit saying the universe is "spatiotemporally infinite and eternal". On what fucking grounds do you make that claim? Lol, this sub is a joke.

Hilarious take OP, r/ConfidentlyIncorrect

Science is not an appeal to authority because the scientific community is not a centralized authority. The currency of science is (1) making novel claims supported by evidence, and (2) finding evidence that actually refutes others claims. Science is inherently competitive and scientist are always trying to take each other down. So when you have the scientific community agree that evidence supports the universe is 13.8 billion years old, then you're not appealing to authority; you're doing the opposite, appealing to evidence, which is not a logical fallacy.

Here 1 month later encountering the same problem. I just called Aidvantage and the lady on the phone said the standard repayment plan was not even an option for her to put me into. I was quite confused that the default option wasn't an option.

I never considered the predatory aspect of them wanting you in longer repayment plans. No better than used car salesmen.

The whole student loan system has been so F'd since 2020. Between the COVID forbearance and then the credible claims coming from politicians that there'd be some amount of mass loan forgiveness, I stopped making payments... Why would I make payments on something that might be forgiven anyway when there's no consequences not to? In hindsight, I wish I just kept making payments all along.

My wife's engagement ring has a salt and pepper diamond, which is a typical clear diamond with dark grey, flaky graphite inclusions.

It's all carbon but two different allotropes in one sample. It's not traditional and some might even call it ugly, but, as two imperfect people, we both love it.

Each attempt to go from National Forest -> National Park has its own backstory: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sawtooth_National_Forest#Forest_history

All public lands are great! I agree that parks are good. Personally, I think National Forests are even better: the land is just as public as a NP, less notoriety/publicity means less visitation, decent enough infrastructure (esp. true in the Sawtooths where NP-level infra buildout happened), and best of all, your dog can visit too!

TeachEngineering

In the photos you can clearly see expansive pine forests as soon as the valley transitions into the foothills below the mountains. Plus, most of the land in these photos is public land.

We're arguing two very subjective points. Sure, Stanley, ID or the mountain West in general isn't for everyone, but there are many who consider this valley beautiful and would love to live there.

TeachEngineering

The Sawtooths in Idaho have a beauty that rivals some of the most famous national parks. It's almost been made a NP multiple times. Last time I was there I was reminded of the Tetons. It's an amazing location.

Ackshually, a one-shot model in machine learning is a model that is trained on only one training example. For example, if when setting up face ID to unlock your phone, you only take one pic of yourself, then the phone will compare every unlock attempt to that one photo and make a call of if it's you or not.

But I agree, in the world of gen AI and vibe coding, one-shot also means did the agent return a satisfactory answer from a single prompt.

If you think of pursuading the human as "training" them, the the traditional definition applies here as well.

And the supermajor oil and gas companies, especially those in the US. If less Middle East oil gets to market and prices rise, US oil sells for almost double what it did before. The CAPEX and OPEX numbers don't change, so the extra is all profit. When they have this extra is when they invest into drilling more US wells.

One thing that the American electorate never understands is that low gas prices and "drill, baby, drill (in the US)" are mutually exclusive realities. You don't really have both at the same time.

Except there isn't going to be "more at 11" because Trump's FCC doesn't approve of this broadcast content, so the news show was canceled and their CEO was replaced by Kid Rock or the Limp Biscuit guy or some shit.

No doubt, genetic abnormalities would make a 100-legged centipede possible. The phrases "biologically impossible" is annoying here, but the fact that an odd number of legs is the normal case is interesting.

Mostly because I assumed the centipede was symmetrical with legs matched 1-for-1 on the left and right side. Now I'm picturing an asymmetrical offset much like a zipper to make the total an odd number.

EDIT: They are indeed symmetrical, typically possessing an odd number of leg pairs (aka segments), meaning they'd have an even number of total legs.

People actually think Kalshi is INVESTING. Fucking retards.

Ooo dude, it's 2026, c'mon... The politically correct term is regarded. And I agree, anyone who is "investing" by placing bets is highly regarded.
