No one is suppressing a group of people by not allowing them to have kids. What are you even talking about?

My comment explained the socio-economic reasons people CHOOSE not to have as many or even kids at all in a wealthy nation compared to a developing one. It’s almost pure economics, and it’s a choice.

Pomfret makes comments on his size and needing to eat.

What you are saying is that he allowed Harry to be abused because he was too lazy/uncaring/whatever to be bothered to exercise his responsibility towards a child he took charge of on his own.

So you both say he knew a child ostensibly in his care was being abused and did nothing and that’s okay? There’s options between nothing and removing the child, you know.

This is why we fought so hard for marriage equality - it’s one of the over 1,200 individual rights granted by being legally married to be with your spouse in the hospital and make medical decisions.

Digital nomad visas do not lead to citizenship, or even permanent residence for most places. They’re great if you want to spend a few years ina. Country, but not if you want to live there permanently.

I can’t think of a single nation that allows immigration with a path to citizenship while retaining a foreign job. ALL of them require that you work for an employer of record in the country so you pay taxes.

Because you don’t have a clear answer let me give it to you: the United States is one of three countries in the world that practice citizenship-based taxation instead of the more normal residence-based taxation. So American citizens living abroad in theory have to file taxes every year.

In practicality, most will owe nothing because of several programs set up for that exact reason. You’ll need to make more than 130,000 USD (or 260k if married) before you’ll need to pay anything. It’s annoying but it’s not that much work.

Also, blasters (and laser swords) don’t leave people bleeding, no blood means lower ratings and more parents willing to take kids to the movies.

Star Wars is a kids movie. Blasters mean you never have to show blood, which avoids that pesky PG-13 rating. That’s why.

But there weren’t. Harry was malnourished and emotionally abused at the very least; Dumbledore and his watchers had a responsibility to step in and protect Harry. They didn’t.

I am astounded that people allow AI to have direct access to their files and try to have it do shit like this. This is what happens, and it happens ALL THE TIME.

Yeah same, and I’d love it if they did all come out the same orientation, but I’m fullly aware of how incredibly impractical that would be.

Statistically, wealthy countries have low birth rates. That’s been true for decades all over the world. The problem is usually offset by immigration to provide sufficient young people moving from poorer countries where families have a lot of kids.

In a developed nation, kids are expensive. Like REALLY expensive. Yet in a developing nation, kids are free labor, and often have strong cultural mores and folkways that tie them tightly to the family. So having more kids in places like India is beneficial, but having them here in Ireland costs a ton and most people are struggling right now.

That’s why almost all of my friends are other immigrants. I continually try, and have even said it outright to my Irish friends before, and to new Irish folk I meet, but my success rate is barely above zero.

It’s FDs and Teggies and Poopras and Z32s… and MR2s and GT-Fours and so many cool cars. Nothing like that really exists anymore.
