Reportedly, James Shields was still planning to go ahead with the fight up when they showed up at the island. That is until Lincoln started lopping off tree branches higher up than Shields’ head as a “warm up”.
Shields later served as a fairly inept general in the Union Army, making it even more ironic that he was trying to duel his eventual commander in chief.

Certain vassal types do try to shoot for characters with more “timid” traits as a way of mimicking that sort of rationale. So it’s not entirely unfounded, even if it is post-hoc.

Mass Effect: Andromeda
The storyline still has enough to be enjoyable, with by far the best feeling combat in the series.
The issue is that Mass Effect, as a series, had such potent storytelling that Andromeda fell way short of the mark. Throw in the general mess of tech failures and I get why it basically imploded on launch. I played after it had seen a few patches, so I had it easier.
EA threw the game and its developers under the bus, ran over them a couple of times with a steamroller, set them on fire, and then dunked them in acid. So the fact the comparatively tiny dev studio managed to switch to such a radically different game engine and still deliver something recognizable as a Mass Effect game was frankly a heroic achievement.

Crusader Kings III and Boat Patrol.
I mentally have a hard time jamming 1940s PT boat shenanigans in with the medieval breeding simulator.

It’s an immediate ER trip but anything is fair game in genuine self-defense.

Sorry if this inflicts psychic damage but the winning response involves testicular torsion.

Yeah, a trip to a jiu-jitsu dojo will correct that notion pretty quickly. Nothing quite like getting folded into a pretzel by someone half your size to make you re-evaluate your life decisions.

Fire Emblem series has bit me on this a couple of times, but I think the main issue the is that I’m a lazy completionist which tends to kill things.

Demand the head of every major department of the executive branch personally fulfill the cast and crew roles from a Gilbert and Sullivan production to be performed that evening with a lack of enthusiasm being grounds for termination.

Are we counting the “Dark Alliance” games? Because I enjoyed those even if it messes up the numbering.

I’m reminded of “True Facts about Grant Anthony O’Brien”:
“Buyer beware on stealing Grant’s identity. You’d be absorbing a level of debt that would make even Bernie Sanders say, ‘OK, come on man, at some point this is your fault.’”

More of my point is the opportunity cost. If someone only has the time/focus/energy to send out 30 applications in a given span, it’s better to send them to places you know better match your salary expectations.
I have a hard time seeing a reason to withhold salary information except to create an advantage through information asymmetry. I don’t want to have an adversarial relationship before I’m even hired. So, if I have the choice, I will choose an employer who discloses that over a similar position.

Chrono Cross is the only game where I bought the CDs for the entire OST.
