ARK isn't even a matter of spaghetti code, the devs are just lazy about compression and using efficient code. If you're trying to keep your game small you try to write bits of code that you can call on in later bits of code. ARK just rewrites the same bits of code over and over and has completely uncompressed texture files.

I mean, outside of full gimmick builds like demoknight or rocket jumping melee weapons are just kind of ass in that game. It's so rare to do anything impactful with melee hits from weapons that just want you to use melee swings (spy being the obvious exception). Almost every class prefers a melee weapon that's functionally useless but provides escape options.
