By the time I got to radiation, I had had so many people see and touch my breasts that I didn’t care. I know that they had me change into the gown to preserve my dignity as a patient, but if they were just going to take it off, it seemed silly not to just disrobe in front off them.

Yes! And pets can make finding a rental difficult. Also, OP, you should probably take your possible salary and run it through some tax calculators to see how much you will bring home each month. Even that number will likely be higher than what is reported because of deductions to pay more health, dental and vision care.
I understand why it seems like this sub exists to tell people not to move here, and it can seem like that, but I think most people are just trying to say, hey, slow your role. Moving to Hawaii is very different than living here, and it can be a real struggle.
Oh, and besides the other commenter saying to deal with pet related requirement sooner rather than later, if you have any complicated heath issues, that is another thing to consider. Most providers are on Oahu. My cousin who had a heart transplant has to fly to Oahu from Maui regularly for appointment. This adds cost and complexity. Just things to consider.

Most people on this sub recommend finding a short term vacation rental for about a month when you arrive so you can see what you commute might look like, or what neighborhoods would work for you.

My surgeon wanted me to wear it until I was 12 weeks out from surgery. I just finally took it off this past weekend and I still fit my old bras, so that was nice.

I miss Pioneer Chicken so much.

I love the leg huggers!

I had the clips inserted during my ultrasound guided biopsy and then the morning of surgery, I had guide wires inserted with local anesthesia.

I love the robot blanket and the grippy socks they give you before you go to the OR.
I have had multiple surgeries so I didn’t have any anxiety, but you could ask your doctor to prescribe you some lorazepam or similar to take the morning of your surgery. For every other surgery I’ve had, they offered to give me something via IV before heading back, but it’s most commonly Versed, which I’ve had a bad reaction to, so I just raw dog it. 😝

You should absolutely do what you and your doctor decide together, and if you don't want to take the medication, that is a valid decision. But, I would like to point out that there are MANY, MANY people who are paying out of pocket for this medication because it works so well for them when. nothing else has.
I myself only decided to start this medication because I was already trying to lose weight with diet and exercise, but I am about to be put into medically induced menopause and I'm definitely going to need the extra help that Zepbound can give me.

I was coming here to say this. I don't think the current glasses look bad on you, OP, but I think if you got some new frames that suited your current face shape you'd feel a lot different.
Also, it's probably the lighting, but in the first 2 photos you look like you have a slight tan, and the last one, the light is washing you out. That is the biggest difference that I see between them, not age.

Boobs are meant to be sisters, not twins. I do not bean to say that your feelings about your post surgery body are invalid. But honesty, it’s very hard to tell what’s going to happen after surgery. I had a lumpectomy with oncoplastic reduction and reduction and lift on the non cancer side for symmetry.

I didn't have nausea, but I did have that same feeling like I was about to catch a cold. My sessions were on a Wed, Thurs, Fri - then the weekend and Mon and Tues. I felt the sore throat on the Friday evening into Saturday morning and then again on the Tuesday into Wednesday morning. It wasn't specifically called out as a side effect, anecdotally, I think it is. :)

Bleaching your hair will affect the texture of your hair, but you can't know for sure how. When I was doing bleach with vivid colors, it basically ruined my curl pattern, but I didn't mind at the time. Then, I decided to embrace my curls (that I worked against for YEARS) and stopped bleaching, but still put the vivid over my gray hair, so now I've got dark brown hair with blue streaks. It's deposit only color, so it doesn't last that long, but doing touch ups doesn't take that much time or effort.

Yes, I had the same thing. I had markers placed when they did the ultrasound guided biopsy, then on the morning of surgery, I went in and they put the guide wires in using a mammogram.

More unhinged behavior from anon by the door. How do these people live their lives, much less keep their jobs?
Well, some non-NT people do exactly this.
I grew up in a house where it was the norm, and had to unlearn it. That has been only mostly successful.
I have friends who do this, too.
I have learned to ask them to continue doing their regular activities by promising to text them twice, once from 30 minutes away (so they can start making the mental switch) and once from 5 minutes away (so they can stand by the door) so they don’t end up hanging by their door for a couple of hours.
And sometimes I ask people to do the same for me, though I’ve at least learned I can put a note on the doorbell saying “ring twice and wait a bit, I’m home!” 90% of the time, I’m back at the door before they arrive, but having the note frees me up to do all the other things I’d normally be doing for the hour or two when they might show up.

I just got a massage and it was so good, I booked a 2 hour session with the same therapist for next week. I have some credits to use up that built up when I was undergoing my cancer journey. Anything you can do to pamper yourself and not break the bank is a good idea!

The plastic surgeon did leave the cancer side slightly larger and lower than the other side, since she said that she thought that radiation might cause it to contract and lift a little. She also said that she didn’t get optimal results and that we could discuss fat grafting around 2 months after radiation, but I think she was being a perfectionist. Boobs are supposed to be sisters not twins. 😜

Yes, it is most likely that people who start on a glp-1 will need to be on it for life, but lots of meds are like that. Insulin, high blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, etc.
I’ve decided to start Zepbound to tackle a bunch of health issues I was having before cancer. Not everyone needs these meds or responds well to them, but I am happy they exist.

Honestly, it’s very very likely that it’s a cyst. However, as someone who just finished active treatment for breast cancer, even a cancer diagnosis doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. Look at this as a GOOD thing, because they want to be extra sure. If it is cancer, they want to catch it very early because that’s the easiest to treat.
Having said that, I know that it’s hard not to spiral about things like this. I hope that all this ends up being is a bunch of annoying extra appointments.

That salary after taxes will be around $3300 per month. It’s not impossible, but it will be very difficult. You will almost certainly need a car and roommates.
Edited to add that the above figure does not include any health benefit premiums you get deducted from your paychecks.

I had this surgery on July 20th, and the non-cancer side nipple regained sensation fairly quickly. I think it was around 4 days? The other nipple was very derpy for a while and kind of numb, but that's slowly getting better, I don't think that nipple will ever get back to it's pre-surgery state, but I'm happy with it.
I did do 5 sessions of partial breast radiation, and at the only symptom I had was fatigue on day 3 and day 5.

I have zero clue what will happen next year, but right now, I am paying $0 because I hit my out of pocket maximum thanks to breast cancer treatment. If it's not covered under the new plan, I'll probably do self pay.

Tell me you’re a transplant without telling me you’re a transplant.
Yeah, the Streamline has been around for ages, and I feel like it’s been in its “new” location for at least a decade. I definitely recommend it, the owners are lovely people, unlike the asshole that owns Mecca and the 5 Point.
