Nice hurdle, Lloyd. Never fuckin' do it again.

TheNumberJ

You can be a fan of a team/org and not a fan of the league.

Packers 4 life.

NFL, as it currently is, can die and I wont be sad about it.

Boat is functional even if it's a bit worn out in spots, we keep it working... problem is we are still dragging anchors (tech debts).

TheNumberJ

The map size being smaller would have been fine if their "connected world" stuff actually worked like they said it would. It was supposed to be where you could have one map with a massive amount of residential, would then flow to connected maps to fill in jobs in Industrial/Commercial in other maps. Except it just didn't work... and they never bothered fixing it.

TheNumberJ

As someone who has used both Veeam and Commvault:

Veeam I would be fine using and managing on my own.

Commvault I would want to pay someone to manage for us (MSP / Data-center services)

I've always held firm that Grammarly is a tool for those who failed middle school English. An educated adult should not need it.

TheNumberJ

I would continue focusing your efforts on the Software side. As an IT Admin of multiple decades, I can say that AutoDesk software often has many hidden limits and controls built into it that can be tweaked... there's literally reports of getting massive performance increases just by changing the cursor style in-app to the Windows Default instead of the crosshair.

TheNumberJ

Also upgrade to v13, there's a lot of fixes.

v13 has still been functional for us, but man the console GUI is like x10 more slow and laggy than v12.

TheNumberJ

Addendum: Veeam Agent for Windows uses Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to create snapshots on physical servers. VSS has a snapshot limit of 64 TB.

Just a limit of the platform to be aware of.

TheNumberJ

Yup, never had too much of a problem with these guys in most of the open areas. If you roll towards their "hips" you just like stay in a safe zone where their squirm attacks don't hit you.

...but ya, I've whipped out the bow for this one in the rot.

TheNumberJ

My mistake; I can confirm those settings are under "Company" in the settings menu as the other commenter mentioned. Should default to 'on' for new games tho.

TheNumberJ

I'm unsure about in the settings, but auto-renew should available from your Road Vehicles list.

Select a group or "all road vehicles" then click 'Manage List > Replace Vehicles' ... the Replace menu should open up.

Select what you want to replace on the left, with what you want to replace with on the right. Then click Start Replacing Vehicles.

When your vehicles next stop in for service they should auto-upgrade/renew.

Yup still really good value and great for beginners.

As for the push fit models... They hold pretty tight once assembled. It may be possible to pull them apart again but it wouldn't really be recommended unless you need to repair something. I'll still generally glue them a tiny bit in spots for better holds.

TheNumberJ

If you can get your hands on a set yes, it's great for beginners. value is insane for what you get for the retail cost.

TheNumberJ

In most cases (from what I've seen with players at local shops) as long as your paint scheme is unified and you have called out before the match that you are running "X faction" instead of what is painted, then it's usually fine. Tournament rules may vary on this, but most of the time it's fine for casual play.

This is exactly why I choose to run a custom Space Marine chapter; I can choose whatever faction I want them to be for each game.

TheNumberJ

Rest easy CMDR, We have the watch.

TheNumberJ

A lot of poor assumptions in this thread for timing with very little specific info given in the outline.

As someone who's logged about an hour a night into this game so far I can say the core gameplay loop is really fun.

There's already outlines in the game for new weapons and abilities; most of the things they list in phase 2 already seem to be most of the way along in development. The current map also has clear indications of things already in the works in the roadmaps like the "Hives"

The game is extremely fun as is... anytime they get around to adding more content is fine with me. I'm not one who needs to chase after unlocking every available weapon or whatnot; I don't need to freaking prestige rank bullshit; just give me bugs to shoot

Similar to Mordheim yes, but more with an open battlefield in most cases. Just smaller scale than the full army games.

Yes both Kill Team (Warhammer 40k) and Warcry (Warhammer: Age of Sigmar) can move their units up into the bigger games. Though with Warcry some of the pre-designed chaos warbands will be a little more tricky to transition into Age of Sigmar (Warhammer Fantasy Army scale). However all of the core armies in the games should have factions available to play in both Kill Team and Warcry.

I personally like Warcry more of those two; but I would say go with whatever theme the kid likes more. The important thing is to like the look of the models you go with; having to build/paint models you don't care for just becomes a chore.

TheNumberJ

I'd suggest starting with one of the smaller skirmish games. Kill Team (Sci-Fi) or Warcry (Fantasy), if you want to stick with Warhammer(games workshop) themes... or check out Marvel Crisis Protocol, or the new Star Wars ShatterPoint coming out in a few days.

Skirmish games are going to be smaller groups of armies (between 5-10 models), so it's easier to get everything you need to play built up. Most all of the games I mentioned have starter sets that include 2 playable factions, terrain, and rules/dice/etc.

Besides a starter-set for a skirmish game, you'll need some basic hobby supplies to build the miniatures and paint: Plastic Snips, Plastic Glue, hobby files and/or knife... Paint brushes, Primer Paint, and then model paints.

If you do decide to help them jump into the hobby, my key piece of advice is going to be not to expect things to look "perfect" your first time... brush control just comes with practice; Also you don't need to have everything painted to play... Most of the time I play Marvel Crisis Protocol games at my local store, like only 20% of models are painted, haha.

TheNumberJ

If you're wanting to switch to a fully mobile Windows ecosystem, then Intune is the best. It's made managing our windows laptops so much easier.

TheNumberJ

I usually recommend black primer for new painters as anything you miss painting just looks like shadow.

... White if they plan to use contrast/speed paint. As obviously you need a light primer for those paints to work.

TheNumberJ

Doesn't matter... haven't been able to use their new payment processor to buy any new products from them anymore. They refuse to fix this; despite having made many purchases with them through their old processor.

These thinner Precisions have been fairly rock-solid for our users. Only real issue is docking stations and that seems to be an issue with nearly every manufacturer these days.

I'm driving one of the larger Precision models (7560) that I picked up on their recent clearance sale. Love having a physical ethernet port on it. It's pretty heavy in comparison, but I like it as an IT workstation.

TheNumberJ

I played the demo last night because I saw it was coming out today...

While in some dialog I had to stop, as I realized the music playing was coming from the game... I just listened for probably 2 or 3 loops before pressing 'A' again on the dialog. Can't wait to play the rest of the game and hear the rest of the soundtrack!

Toyota Dealership near me can't even keep enough maintenance techs on staff to support their vehicles. Service schedule outs are like months in advance... even their quick oil-change service has been turning people away because they don't have staff.

They have like 8+ vehicle bays in the facility but only 2 are ever in use.
