My buddy and I use to play a ton of Herzog Zewi, we borrowed from his rich friend.

I still have it.

We use to play with the infinite money cheat and while he would build interesting defences and such, I would spam an impassable wall of turrets diagonally across the entire map. I ruined the game for us.

TheRealChuckle

What's the budget?

TheRealChuckle

Most mid level phones have an SD slot.

The real world usage difference compared to $1k+ flagship phone is minimal.

TheRealChuckle

Buy a phone with microSD support. Problem solved, infinite storage.

TheRealChuckle

Are you trying to take Groks job!?!

TheRealChuckle

The kinnect never worked as well as advertised.

The controller makes that game. It's just so big. It has to be assembled from 3 pieces, plus foot pedals.

If you find a cheapish copy of it, get it. An Xbox is cheap and plays well with modern TVs.

TheRealChuckle

So you could pop out any door, at any time, to get some fresh air.

TheRealChuckle

Steel Battalion on the OG Xbox is exactly what you're looking for.

1st person view, 40 button custom controller, there's even a windshield wiper button.

It's hard but the immersion can't be beat.

An empty, freshly painted, warehouse...probably the only guard...why even ask permission?

I've done dense urban and sparse rural.

I didn't mind the cities, I don't concern myself with who might be watching me, I have better things to do.

I live rural now and it's nice to be able to do whatever I want, as loud or quiet as I want.

I do miss the conveniences of town though.

Everything out here is at least a half hour drive, no garbage pickup, poor cell reception, etc.

Forgot to grab milk after work in town yesterday and today is my day off? Guess I'm going to town, since I'm going to town I guess I should go to the dump on the way, since I'm going to the dump and town now mom wants to come and check out some stores. Now half my day off is driving around and 20 bucks in gas.

At least when I get home I can crank some metal and have a bonfire.

Most things are cheaper at my local low end grocery store, and of the same quality.

Their electronic selection is very shit overall. I often see the same items cheaper at Best Buy.

Renting any place that doesn't function like a regular home is going to be tricky.

There could be local requirements for sanitation, water, etc, that the place doesn't meet.

The bigger concern for me would be finding people that actually understand how it all works, will do the extra stuff required to keep it working, and are willing to live long term with the compromises that all this entails.

Take the composting toilet for example. There's all sorts of kinds of them but they all require more then pushing a handle to flush.

We have a SunMar, and whenever we have people stay for a couple days, they fuck it up. I give them the rundown on how it works, it's pretty simple, but people do weird things. People will use a half roll of toilet paper for one shit, thanks for making a shit and piss soaked football size wad I have to remove. People throw anti-bacterial wipes in it, we don't even have those around so they must bring their own. Thanks for trying to kill the whole composting aspect.

Thats not even getting into emptying or cleaning it.

All I envision would be constant calls from the renter about how stuff isn't working and you need to come fix it.

Renting to someone you know that you also know can handle everything would be an option I would explore though.

There's a bunch of reasons but mostly it comes down to poor time management and control issues.

Our town is only a few thousand full time residents so the available labour pool is small as well.

A further break down of the population makes the pool even smaller.

Half the town is over 50 with a good portion of them being retired.

Another 25% are self employed, farmers, contractors, etc.

The remaining 25% is the labour pool.

Because we're a tourist town, business income varies greatly over the year. The bar/restaurant manager is often the main employee outside of summer. Most places reduce theirs hours and days open in the winter.

They should still be able to manage their time better or send another employee before it's an emergency though.

My co workers have spent years training them to expect to be treated like a visting royal family though which is the root of most of the issues.

In my experience there's little rhyme or reason about this.

I had a history of defaulting on CCs. I'd be a ghost in the system for 7 years, when it fell off my general credit history, and get offered another with an even higher limit, different banks. My last one was a 15k limit. I no longer have any CCs for obvious reasons, even though I get "pre approved" offers for CCs with that same limit.

My now wife has always been diligent about paying her CCs off.

She was a bartender with no predictable income for a long time. She would occasionally, once every year or two, put a few grand (or max out the card when it was a lower limit) on her card for a vacation and pay it off over a few months. Eveytime she did this they'd offer to up her limit while there was a large balance on it.

They closed the Beer Store in my town last year. There are zero places to take empties back within a half hour drive.

I still get people monthly pitching a fit that the LCBO doesn't take them and have to explain how the Beer Store runs the whole program, it's been owned by American brewers for decades, and we have no control over any of it.

All alcohol sales here are done through a provincial crown corporation. Up until a couple years ago you could only buy alcohol from one of these stores, which there are tons of.

As such, the system was setup to distribute to licensees as well as the general public.

Large businesses get deliveries directly from the regional warehouses.

Most places get their product from local stores though. They email, call in, or drop off a list and we let them know when it's ready. It's not too much work as long as everyone communicates. We keep extra of what the local establishments want on hand, most stores are setup with sufficient back room space.

We recently introduced an online portal for wholesale stuff but there's a ridiculous amount of business owners who refuse to use it, even though it removes a lot of friction on both ends.

All businesses are required to buy under their license but it wasn't uncommon for my wife, who was a bartender, to get a call from a boss to grab a couple bottles on her way to work, off license.

That's what I said?

TheRealChuckle

There is no heat.

There is only energy and matter.

Energy will seek to equalize.

TheRealChuckle

That's my view. And if they want to be dicks about waiting their turn, then I can find ways to make them wait longer.

I'm as accommodating as possible but the second someone gets pissy becasue a problem of their own making I get real petty.

TheRealChuckle

That could be it.

It's unlikely to have 2 screens in a row break for no known reason.

Usually the reason is something the user doesn't think about, like the pocket thing, or overheating the phone gaming or whatever and then jamming it in a pocket so heat can't dissipate well.

TheRealChuckle

Cold air will seep out under the door, since it's heavier than hot air.

If there's a breeze blowing in through the window it could help force air out of the room as well.

TheRealChuckle

How tight/small are your pockets and how big is the phone?

Sounds like it's so tight in there that when you sit it's bending the phone against your thigh.

TheRealChuckle

I worked a post where I stood by a door and turned civilians away from the construction area.

There was another security company in charge of the construction stuff, they had 2 guards posted at the same door.

I was the useless one but I was there because the other companies guards said they could handle the public and signing workers in and out.

I turned away 5 people the whole week I was there.

Playing lots of Transport Fever 3 lately. I tend to get ahead of myself.

"Been waiting 4 days for a train to stop, none ever do, there's hundreds of us here. I'd take the bus back home but all 12 busses in this god forsaken town are always full and there's hundred of people in the platform. I'd walk home but there's no sidewalks and I refuse to not walk on a sidewalk.

Tribes seem to be forming, hoarding what little supplies we have. I fear that violence will break out soon. Some look like they're fashioning large roasting spits.

My only hope is the multitude of half empty ferries that pass close by but there's no port for them to stop at to save us.

I'm starting to think that I died and this is hell."

What you want doesn't exist as far as I know.

Those big power banks with a solar panel built in simply don't have a big enough solar panel to charge quickly.

You can set up a full size panel system just for it but at that point you might as well just add onto your existing system.

Another option is to take it with you when your driving any place and charge from the vehicle. Of course, depending on what features your vehicle has or how much you spend on an inverter that will charge it fast enough for you, you might as well just add more panels to your existing system.

In short, you should probably just add more panels to your existing system or charge it elsewhere that has grid power.
