Rumble is Being Slept On (IMO) (self.riftboundtcg) [Discussion]

Same way I've beaten the majority of Aurora decks. Look to stick Ferrous Forerunner on a battlefield asap. Even blue Rumble is good to build mechs in base. Hold onto TTW till the very end when they try to push both Elders onto battlefields. Send in a mech or two at a time to bait out Blades.
There's no perfect way to play against Aurora when you're in Blue/Red. Just have to do your best to out pace them before they get their engine going.
TheRealtorGuy
I've beaten different Aurora decks playing Rumble. Ferrous Forerunner and TTW make it a fair fight. Just have to know how to play against it. Bryhnir is also helpful when they're holding back Blades.
TheRealtorGuy
I would probably just run more removal in its place since it's very good at ending games or clearing battlefields with a lot of units. You could do the Bryhnir+Breach combo to permanently remove units as a way to close out games too.
TheRealtorGuy
One of the cool synergies I found was with Anvil letting you accelerate units from it since it's not being played from hand.
I think we're going to have to main imperial decree since we play so many low to the ground units. Also battlefield selection will be more important so instead of the usual Trifarian War Camp, Candlelit Sanctum, and Seat of Power, we might have to have start playing Vilemaw, Black Rose Sanctum, and maybe Heisho or Mystic Vortex to give us more upper hand plays.
Once we see the meta form we'll have a better idea.

So originally, it was interpreted that if you attacked with lets say a souring scout, you could sacrifice it to Stalking Wolf and have it ambush in. For a while, the ruling was that it couldn't work that way cause there's no longer an attacker at the bf so Stalking Wolf could only be played if there were was two attacking units.
They finally changed it to now work exactly the way it's worded so now you can do the original interpretation of the unit. I believe it was because of the similar wording Rengar has that allows it to be played to a battlefield where you don't have other units.
TheRealtorGuy
Usually I would agree, but after the whole Stalking Wolf dilemma, I just want to be 100% sure.
TheRealtorGuy
Oh okay that makes sense.
TheRealtorGuy
This is my list atm. Nothing fancy, but has won me a few Nexus Nights now so I'm sticking with it lol
TheRealtorGuy
Don't diss my boy Rumble :( he's been doing so well for me
TheRealtorGuy
Yea, might be undergoing maintenance or having server issues.
TheRealtorGuy
Hey now! I only managed to trigger his legend 3 times in a total of 6 rounds at my NN last night. That's 6 extra cards!
TheRealtorGuy
I think this is why I tend to ask my opponents if they have a reaction to my action. Then once they play their spell/unit, I'll ask if they pass focus afterwards. The problem with RiftAtlas is that the game isn't doing things by the rules since it is a non-official game simulator, so it's upon the players to enforce the proper rules and procedures. Some players are coming from automated games like Magic Arena or Hearthstone, so they're expecting things to auto enforce the rules. It's important that new players understand that RiftAtlas isnt official and they'll have to play a bit slower/more carefully on the simulator.
TheRealtorGuy
This makes the most sense. I appreciate the honest response. Thank you!
If I ever get an opportunity to attend an RQ then I'll definitely know for sure. Unfortunately where life is for me, Nexus Nights are my only ways to play.
TheRealtorGuy
I mean at my lgs. A lot of players seem to play everything but purple for the most part. Not saying he's the best deck in comparison. Just that he has more potential and I don't feel it's being used to the fullest.
Again, this is all just opinion. Not trying to argue a point or anything.
TheRealtorGuy
This is what I've been running and having a lot of success.
TheRealtorGuy
Poro bot was kind of a let down, and the new mech making gear was in Orange so I was super disappointed.
Maybe radiance gives us some new stuff.
TheRealtorGuy
This is my current build and its had the most success.
TheRealtorGuy
This is the factor I'm missing. Most people aren't playing purple so I don't have enough data to see how well it does against decks in that color.
TheRealtorGuy
This is the direction I ended up going for Jayce. More focused on moving units around. Having the ability to untap Bar Arena and Mistfall to either push for more points or bring them back to base.
TheRealtorGuy
I'd immediately pay off our house and put the rest into retirememt/high yield savings accounts. Keep working like I don't have the money and then retire early with my wife.

To be fair, Covid and the spike in prices for cards played a huge role with the death of paper standard. When chase cards for top, meta decks cost $20 or more just for a single, and then having to update that same deck every 1 to 3 months, it begins to add up financially.
I played modern for the longest time until modern horizons 2 came out, and it spiked the prices of cards so much that I couldn't afford it anymore. Many of us moved over to commander at the end because it was easier financially and we weren't required to constantly update those decks.
Riftbound has been doing moderately well with keeping the game reasonably priced at the moment and is trying to print and reprint cards so players can get into the game. A digital format won't kill the game so long as physical cards stay affordable, and the events are worth attending.
Also, a digital format will give new players the ability to figure out the mechanics of the game so when they decide to buy into a paper deck, they'll understand it better and not get discouraged when they make a mistake.

I'm gonna play devils advocate here for a minute here cause the extra point going second seems interesting.
It almost puts the game at an equal footing because going first you're almost always going to score first so long as you hit a 2 drop unit or recruit token. The second player is almost always going to feel behind because the player going first can hold up removal or a combat trick to force you either to commit to the other bf and let the opponent hold, or hope they can push off the opponent's unit. However, if they are already up by 1 point, they'll be at 2 when scoring the other bf and at equal footing with player one because they'll hold to 2 on their turn anyway. This means that the other battlefield is now a viable option for player two and will keep the tempo going on both sides without the other feeling like they already lost momentum.
Now the flip side is that if player two is a removal heavy deck like let's say Kai'sa, then going second is going to be ideal because they can play both a 2 drop and have removal ready AND already be up a point. Now player one is faced with a choice as to either hope they aren't holding up a gust or hextech ray, or hold back and develop base while player going second gets the ability to score to 2 and be way ahead of player going first.
I think the extra draw might be good, or even denying player going first to not draw for turn would be even better.
Once testing is done and we get more data, we'll know what yields better results for players going second.
