People ship canonically straight people as queer, and canonically queer people as straight (though this one's less common, its not quite what i'd call uncommon either) all the time. Why is this different? Or are you just against non-canon sexualities/ships in general, which i guess is fair-ish (even though to me the whole point of fic is to diverge from canon, disregard canon, or fold the bastard into an origami crane)

As someone already mentioned, there's Rise of the Wizards. There's also For Love of Magic, but that has a few other issues. Still good, just maybe don't read it in a public place(there's a bit too many smut scenes for my tastes, but they're skippable). The sequels are better about that

There's kingdom building elements in For Love of Magic and sequels, by noodlehammer, but that's.... Not for everyone.

Besides A Place Apart, which I see here already, the last one I can think of is Emperor, by Marquis Black. Sadly abandoned, most likely. Most kingdom-y one of these 3, besides A Place Apart, which is wonderful and I second that recommendation

If I recall correctly, she dies via troll in "For Love of Magic" by noodlehammer. What you think of that fic is a bit of a toss up. Bit lot of smut that you can mostly skip. Sequels are great tho

Imo, the best ho series is Love of Magic, consisting(so far) if For Love of Magic, A Discordant Note, and Metagaming?

While it is het, I still thought I would recommend it.

My other go-tos are the Bringer if Balance series, which is a FNaF crossover and could be classified as either slash or gen, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Children, which is NOT based around Cursed Child, so don't worry. It is a Creepypasta crossover and features Harry/Neville.
