He's not this level though, let's be honest

Really hard to warm to this squad, I can't lie, just a bunch of gutless fucks across the board. Anyone with a remotely physical approach gets bags of joy against them

He did fuck it up though, as the commenter above pointed out he underhit it once again and the City defender fluffed the clearance

It's not just about goals, even in his first cameo appearances you could see that Phillipe had something, he was unbelievably skillful and took people on constantly.

I've never seen anything like that from Wirtz with us

He's a huge part of the reason we've been mid, we've built our entire approach around a 10 that can't trap a ball or hit a pass hard enough to reach his man.

This is all well and good if Wirtz is even just doing the basics right, but he isn't.

The tactics and the system don't cause you to have an abysmal touch under little pressure, or to bottle out of challenges, or underhit passes or shots etc.

He looks absolutely shocking at times out there

Then serious questions need to be asked why that wasn't a major consideration when weighing up his potential transfer.

This is Liverpool and the PL. The pressure is immense, if you're not performing, then it becomes even more intense. We need players that thrive in that kind of environment, not wilt.

Cherki scores solo efforts where he skins defenders and puts it in the net. This idea he's only thriving at City, and Wirtz isn't with us, just because Cherki has elite talent around him is absolute hogwash.

He's just a better and far more confident player.

Wirtz is looking more and more like some of the worst business in the club's history with each passing week.

No one can rescue him from this, his problems are 95% his own. He simply has to turn this around himself or the headlines will continue

Koumas is all heart and running, he's exactly how any of us would be if we got to play for Liverpool.

Unfortunately I don't think he's this level quaity-wise

As expected, we came flying out of the gates and had them absolutely rattled, but we just lack any sort of quality up front to get an early goal to keep Anfield pumped up. As such, it got quieter as the half went on, which annoyingly allowed City to settle.

I love Koumas and Munoz, they are such willing runners with bags of tenacity, but they are obviously squad players, not the quality of that will dominate or decide a game of this magnitude.

Wirtz and Barcola on the other hand cost a combined £240m and simply must do more. Barcola is obviously more forgivable being so new, but Wirtz is becoming more of an enigma by the week. Whether or not you think he will eventually come good, it's beyond clear that his head is on fucking Mars right now and maybe even needs a couple games out to clear it a bit.

Barcola has been absolutelyeverything his detractors said he would be for us so far. That's really fucking worrying

He is not Liverpool quality and I say that as someone that absolutely loves his running and tenacity

I really do think he needs a bit of time out of the team to settle down a bit mentally
