I read "It would be awesome..." as a nice-to-have thing. In my mind, OP made two dishes - one vegan, one not - and labeled them clearly seems absolutely in the spirit of how I'm reading the invite. Obviously the host doesn't feel the same way about their wording, but it's a super passive voice in my mind.

If you want to make sure everyone only brings vegan dishes, you state that by saying "Vegan dishes only" very clearly. You can't write a wish-washy statement and then rule with an iron fist about it.

I saw the Pearl Jam / Smashing Pumpkins / RHCP show at Penn State and it was no joke — Pearl Jam completely owned that show, and this was three months before Ten was released. They put on an incredible show.

We all have a problem with people being lumped into groups.

Conservatives are now being seen by Liberals as a bunch of assholes because of the actions of few in the same way that BLM is seen as rioters because of the actions of a small number of people under that umbrella.

But again, even that gross oversimplification demonstrates the power of this generalization — not all Conservatives agree that all BLM protestors are rioters, just like not all Liberals lump in all Conservatives with the Capitol rioters.

What has to happen is that we all need to rejoin the same reality. Everyone is trapped in their bubbles and we’ve lost common ground. We need someone like a Walter Cronkite that we can all listen to and agree to some shared view of the world. One important thing that we need to fix for both sides is that opinions are not news — there simply isn’t 24 hours of news to watch, so people shoveling what started as cable news into their brains all day and night isn’t healthy.

I saw that tour in a basketball gymnasium at Penn State. Nirvana wasn’t there, but Smashing Pumpkins was the middle act — this was during the Gish era.

Pearl Jam was mind blowing. Ten was still three months from release and they were just incredible. I’ve always been sad that the album didn’t capture the intensity of that show. So good.
