I feel like I would either destroy my ankles or tear my achilles if I tried riding MX in regular shoes, and I'm not even that fast.
Totally agree with your comment on boot break in. Tech 10s are particularly stiff when new. Every time I get a new pair of boots, it takes a few hours of riding to get a good sense of peg feel/position.
Thought_Ninja
Have they never watched a race? Pros are brake tapping almost every every other jump.
Thought_Ninja
I find gently rubbing their throat and chest up and down while doing so helps as well.
Thought_Ninja
Aired up the rear after seeing this lol
Thought_Ninja
Depends what kinda riding I'm doing, but typically I get anywhere from 2-5 hours of ride time (I avoid charging over 90% or running below 20%, so I could certainly stretch it if needed). I have a few buddies that can burn through a full charge in about an hour, but we're talking former pros doing back-to-back motos at race pace.
In general, I'd argue that it's got plenty of battery for the vast majority of riders and riding styles. I'm usually exhausted and ready to call it a day well before the battery is getting low. If I do get low, I can get it back (or close) to a full charge in about an hour by plugging it into my truck or a generator.

Well, I tried sanding it down and drawing over it with a gold metallic sharpy, but the sharpy wouldn't dry, so I just had to wipe it off. It looks a bit darker/distressed after that, but still not as subtle as I'd like. I haven't bothered with it since then, but I might try using something like leather dye next.
Thought_Ninja
I went with soft, but later had them revalved and resprung, so stiffer and more progressive now.
Thought_Ninja
Working my way there lol
I've only really been riding moto for about a year, so still a bit timid when it comes to the bigger or more technical jumps. I rode downhill MTB and BMX at a pro level for most of my life though, so trying to carry that energy over as I get more comfortable with a heavy bike with a motor.
Thought_Ninja
Forsure. I had it revalved and resprung a few months ago and am really impressed overall. It's nice and plush, but still handles the hard hits. I'll soft bottom occasionally at my local track on some of the less forgiving landings, but I hardly notice. Only time I REALLY hard bottomed was when I came up short on the big triple, hitting the knuckle of the landing about as perpendicular as possible at close to 40mph; I still rode it out somehow, but hope to not make that a usual occurrence.
Thought_Ninja
Both did actually, I'm not fully bottomed out here, but pretty close lol
Thought_Ninja
True, I'm not fully bottomed out here though. I can do more with the rear, but my usual settings will be maybe 80% or so of what you see here on the same send. It takes a HARD hit to fully bottom out, so I probably won't be bothering with changing the shim stacks again.
Thought_Ninja
It was honestly a pretty smooth landing, suspension did it's job. This was a pretty small send anyway. Basically 6ft up to flat across 30ft to where I was landing; sessioned that and a couple other things to mess with settings and find limits. It was a cool learning experience.
Thought_Ninja
Stark Varg bobber conversion lol
Thought_Ninja
Intentionally here, just trying to get a feeling for all the settings and their limits to dial things further. This one was small, but the bigger ones I was testing on were certainly nerve wracking and far more jarring.
Thought_Ninja
It isn't usually quite this soft. Just experimenting with settings.
Thought_Ninja
Forgot to add a caption. Was fiddling with clickers and finding limits across a handful of jumps and terrain. This was from a send to flat on a small jump, roughly 30ft coming down from about 6ft up with things about as soft as they would go.
Thought_Ninja
I was fiddling with clickers and finding limits across a handful of things lol
Landed to flat from about 6ft up over maybe 30ft distance here, so yeah, pretty small.
Thought_Ninja
Thanks! I like going for a clean/minimalist setup, and that brown compliments the gray plastics and gold forks nicely without standing out.
The winged seat was also a real game changer for me functionally. The Varg is a fairly narrow bike, and I'm slightly bow-legged, so the seat lets me grip/control the bike with my legs way better and I no longer get arm pump so easily.
Thought_Ninja
I figured just a typo or autocorrect, but the substitution gave me a chuckle.
Thought_Ninja
They taste especially good right after a long drive. Glad I'm not the only one.

generically

I host a server for a group of friends (7 of us in total), and this is what we've landed on:
Resources: 1.5x
Raids: muchless
Death penalty: veryeasy
Build without crafting bench: enabled
Build in dungeons: enabled - Mostly helps with resource extraction in sunken crypts by putting chests to fill by the entrance, but kinda fun to build bases in/around caves too.
Portals: only blocking ore - You'll need a mod if you want to enforce this, but we find that it encourages building outposts while still keeping the logistical grind manageable as we explore and spread out.
It's still quite a rewarding and challenging experience, but doesn't feel like a chore.
Thought_Ninja
Yeah, that's kinda wild to me; I could see it being a fun challenge, but I simply do not have the time to take that on. I host a server for a group of friends who all have pretty busy lives, so we've made some tweaks to make the game less of a grind.
For portals, we decided to just block ore. I feel like it strikes a nice balance by encouraging us to build outposts while still cutting down on some of the logistical overhead as we progress and spread out.
I'd recommend learning to keep fingers on the front brake and clutch. It's saved me a handful of times.
