Well do add we use guns for the same reason medieval soldiers used polearms , because its effective to use at minimal training. While again with both increased training would make it more effective but helldiver's usually aren't in situations where we need hand to hand combat because we aren't fighting humans.

Makes sense since a helldiver's is just pushed into the battlefield
