They should adjust the balance of the game to make historical templates more meta instead, rather than forcing the ai to use ahistorical ones, ideally.
Timmy-Jimmy
thanks for shilling my mod in every reddit post on why vanilla france sucks

Honestly I'd rather have naval aviation be dozens of players swarming with minitorps rather than a single torp bomber crewed by 1-2 people shutting down an entire operation
Give Wardens a new scout plane, make the existing one into a dedicated torp bomber with buffed quillbacks but also a vastly higher cost (similar to the seafighter) and either remove the old Torp Bomber or turn it into something like an anti-sub Maritime Patrol Aircraft so the model doesnt go to waste.
Give collies a torp bomber too with buffed Quillback (Light) Torpedoes too, with a cost similar to the Warden Seafighter as well.

Tbh I'm just saying this because I see people saying Paradox should change the AI to make better or otherwise meta division or equipment templates when I really don't see the point in that when the current meta is so incredibly basic.
Like sure it would be a more challenging game if Paradox made the AI built the meta max HMG fighters but it would be even better if the game meta was more balanced and complex enough to allow more variety in designs in the first place
I get why you might not want to do it for a mod though, tbf (and there's only so much you can do in the first place with a mod, like you cant mod fundamental air combat mechanics)
Timmy-Jimmy
If someone was to make a mod for this I'm not sure why you wouldn't just go the extra step and just buff the doctrines Germany uses by default instead
You get a more balanced game and it stays historical that way
Timmy-Jimmy
The previous nerfs to the Soviets completely destroyed them in MP vs a Germany player. The issue is with the German AI, not the Soviets being too strong.
Timmy-Jimmy
holy moly
Timmy-Jimmy
Ah nice!
Do you have a portrait for them in your submod or just use a generic? A lot of the time there's historical figures we want to add to the mod but we're limited by a lack of art assets unfortunately :/
Timmy-Jimmy
Author of that mod here, was actually thinking of giving Maurras daily neutrality support but if you have someone who fits better historically I'd be interested to hear it
Timmy-Jimmy
Try to have a strategic reserve of a few divisions somewhere behind the frontline to plug any gaps and counterattack
That way when your line breaks at one point it doesn't lead to the whole line collapsing

They added buddhist socialism and militarism as unique subideologies as well, I checked the files
japan_militarism_ideology: "Militarism"
japan_militarism_ideology_desc: "Militarism is an ideology in which the leader of the nation holds only nominal control, and acts more like a puppet to the nation's military than an independent politician, constantly forwarding their agenda with the end goal of rapid expansionist policy."
buddhist_socialism: "Buddhist Socialism"
buddhist_socialism_desc: "Buddhist socialism, also referred to as Dhammic or Natural socialism, is a political ideology which advocates socialism based on the principles of Buddhism. Both Buddhism and socialism seek to provide an end to suffering by analyzing its conditions and removing its main causes through praxis. Both also seek to provide a transformation of personal consciousness to bring an end to human alienation and selfishness."

France Expanded is the most popular rework mod for France on the steam workshop. We've recently released an update to our mod, the biggest change of which was completely reworked Bonapartist tree for France. Otherwise, the mod includes significant changes to the French focus tree, lots of flavor events, many new historical French characters, and lots more.
You can find our mod at: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3133019320

It makes it unlikely for any balance or community feedback to be implemented though I imagine?

Why post the mechanics diary so close to release and all combined this time?

Not really, the Popular Front era (1936-1937) were vastly different than the centrist governments of Daladier and Reynaud of 1938-1940, particularly in terms of economic and social issues but also in rearmament, which the game entirely skips over.
In fact, except for the period of the late Popular Front where those more centrist politicians took over (Particularly the Chautemps governments, another PM paradox neglected to add), France was not particularly politically "confused".
Instead, the early popular front of Blum saw otherwise unprecedented coordination between the Far-Left and the Center, allowing the passage of massive economic reforms. Likewise, the governments of Daladier and Reynaud generally saw broad support from both the Centre-Left and Centre-Right, and their biggest issues were the questions of rearmament and rising international tensions, rather than an unruly political situation.
Timmy-Jimmy
It would be but despite Paradox having themed an entire DLC around France they couldn't even give them the correct country leaders past mid 1937
Timmy-Jimmy
I'm still astounded they put Burgundy in the VNV path of all things when it was Degrelle and the Rexists who championed it. The VNV, a flemish nationalist path should not be expanding into more French speaking territories of all places
Especially since the Rexist path doesn't have any expansion goals for some reason???
IIRC the devs justified it somewhere by saying the Rexist path was the "internal development" fascist path while VNV was the expansionist path gameplay wise, but in what world does anyone play a fascist path to play tall lol?
Burgundy should have been the Rexist path (Ally with Germany, as you currently do in the path, to expand into France), and the VNV, to keep them as the more independent fascist path, could have given the goals of expanding into German Frisia instead of France. (Uniting all the Dutch adjacent peoples and what not)
Thinking of making a mod to fix this tbh, would not be that hard
Timmy-Jimmy
hi
Timmy-Jimmy
France doesn't even have the correct country leader after summer 1937 its honestly silly. It would not be that hard to add Daladier and Reynaud, paradox added events to switch the prime minister for the UK, so there's no reason they can't here.
Timmy-Jimmy
I don't really see why those should necessarily be puppets either.
Unlike places like Syria which was a LoN Mandate or Morroco was a protectorate, most of French Africa were just colonies without much in the way of regional autonomy. I think their representation as non cored states with the Civilian Oversight occupation law is already pretty accurate.
Timmy-Jimmy
Algeria was directly administered by France as a part of the Metropole it would make no sense to make it independent and give it a focus tree
Timmy-Jimmy
jordan and palestine too from the looks of it
Timmy-Jimmy
have we considered the possibility of wheeled elephants yet? what about hover elephants? many possibilities to be explored.
You can straight up just spray fire at infantry out of range as an area denial tactic because so many players in this game are unreasonably scared of tracers when they shouldn't be. As long as your flanks are secure you can keep an area locked down far beyond your effective kill distance.
