Lovely stack

In regards to not wanting a dreary classic funeral type thing, my grandparents did a 'celebration of life party' type thing to almost have a bit of a send off while they were still here which was a great way of doing it. Wasn't sad n sombre at all, everyone was there, it was lovely. Absolutely the way I'd like to do it.

Thinking of building Hessbh with a mate for another project, any info you can give us on them? Heard they go deep, but any other sound profile info would be great. Not really had the chance to hear them yet
Tobyccoles
We’re happy with them, they can really take some power and are very strong. Running at peaking into rated rms fairly consistently, haven’t heard the type Os 21 with any other drivers to properly reference against though. Only issue we’ve had from thermals I think is smelling the glue a couple times and reigning it back a bit! Don’t think I’ve heard them power compress.

We have 4, looking to get 2 more in a couple months. We use the HOQS N216C powered by Linea Research 44M20

Ahh nice ahaha my bad. Yeah you were pretty bang on!
Yeah I’d say so, I’ve heard 21”scoops and while they probably perceptively were a bit louder they still sounded like a scoop if that makes sense.
We almost had scoops built at first but went on a whim with the type Os and so glad we did.
We’ve found they’re super forgiving, handling pretty much any genre or sound you throw at them. Definitely more flexible than a scoop or folded horn.
Out of other Paraflex boxes I’ve heard tonally I prefer type O. They don’t have the aggressive tightness and somewhat flat feel that C2Es have, which is where I think people say somethings ‘off’ with Paraflex. The type O is fundamentally a very different and simpler design which I think lends well to its performance and character.

We run all HOQS drivers in bass section, they’re great

Another commenter gave a good description. Less in your face than a folded horn, but still tactile, punchy and powerful with some grunt. Not as one note as a scoop, while also not being as coloured (distortion wise). I’d say a little slower overall than both mentioned.
Tobyccoles
Single 21”. The double boxes are HUGE and is a lot of power density, therefor more expensive to load and power. Didn’t really need them but bet they sound awesome.

Great description!

We run 70-120

There’s a 15 and 18 inch version, in picture Is 18, we also run 18
Tobyccoles
We run 21" type O with 18" C2D, it's a great combo. Have heard the 18"s as pictured here (Visceral Soundsystem) and they sound great. Someone has mentioned 21"s not being that much more expensive but got to consider that they're more power hungry also (ours RMS 2000W). You'll be absolutely fine with the 18's if thats what you allready have.
you'll be happy with the results with that stack! Keep in mind HOQS are currently working on and testing a 30hz variant of the type O, might be worth keeping an eye out for if you're not building just yet.

Nothing that can be done other than a recone or send back to manufacturer.

Shrimp kicks!
Tobyccoles
As far as i know the subs and kicks are their own custom design, the subs being a type of folded horn as others have mentioned.
Tobyccoles
Have you used any measurement software on the stack? if you're getting the issue out doors also then most likely its a phase issue. Do you experience is with just your subs playing? What have you tried here. Others have mentioned polarity, pretty nuts the effect this can have also.
Tobyccoles
C2D 18 ;)

‘Needed’ is super subjective, as all things are with preferences in the sound system world. I’ll always love having my head next to a kickbin, even if a taller stack of subs could ‘do the job’.
We run 18” C2Ds and they’re great.
Plus, I think dance music in general lends itself better to a kickbin. Gives the subs a bit less to do. Phase and time aligned correctly it will sound great. And it’s super fun getting a knock of bass to the face on a kick drum hit.
Personally I’d always prefer a kick section instead of the tops dropping lower while being higher up on the stack (physically). Looks wicked too ;)
It’s definitely a cultural thing in the UK too. For various reasons!
All good fun

My new M1 V5 wireless was doing this, flashed the firmware and it sorted it
Cheers for the info.. we run PM60 and have been wanting to give them some love for a bit!
