The Reddit content filter simply requires an nsfw tag for nudity, even tasteful artistic nudity. Why not just add the nsfw tag and post the original images? The censorship cheapens the images and makes them seen more pornographic than actually they are. It takes a mild image and implies it is dirty and needs covering.

It is so strange to me that you have taken it upon yourself to censor these artists’ image. That’s incredibly puritanical and very much the kind of conservative cultural behavior her art is rebelling against. It’s just a human body, why are you being weird about it, and how can you be a fan of hers and miss the point quite so hard?

I’m gay, I’ve been with my husband for almost 20 years. I know some things about gay romance. This Byler theory is some of the most narratively-illiterate, chronically-online nonsense I have ever heard. Mike Wheeler has no romantic feelings towards Will, the straws that are being grasped at do not exist. The show has gone out of its way to show that Mike does not feel the same, to the point where he is oblivious to how Will actually feels.

Emma’s cut is a very refined razor cut pixie. Only a stylist with years of razor cutting training will be able to pull that look off. I know because I am an expensive stylist with years of razor training and I know how difficult that shape is to execute in a way that is chic, soft, and gamine and not heavy, chunky, and masculine. The good news is, you’ve got plenty left to work with! You just need to find a stylist who specializes in razor cut pixies and you’ll probably need to pay more. That haircut is giving “beauty school”.

Floyd’s 99 barbershops. They’re all over my city and there was one on my block. If I recall right (it was like 15 years ago) they’re franchise locations so individual operators/managers can make certain decisions about how the shop is run, but there are certain brand standards every shop has to adhere to. Sport Clips, Supercuts, Aveda, Mario Tricocci, there are lots of corp operated barber shops and salons.

I’m super duper gay, came out loudly a quarter of a century ago, been married to a handsome fella for over a decade. I loved all the company logos going twinkle rainbows in June. Not because I thought the companies cared but because it meant mainstream culture demanded it. I remember the last time mainstream culture demanded queer folks remain silent and really don’t want to go back to that. Being included has been a lot nicer.

I love being a hairdresser, I’ve been doing it for almost ten years now. And I didn’t even start beauty school until after I turned 30. I remember feeling stuck in a job I hated at 25 and feeling really behind in life. Whatever your path brings you next, try to be gentle on yourself. You’ve done something hard for almost half a decade, and learned valuable technical and interpersonal skills doing so. No matter what you do next or how similar or different it is, the things you’ve already done matter. Your time has not been wasted even if you go in a completely different direction. I know so many folks who didn’t find their “thing” until their late 20s or 30s, even older. The most important thing is to not give up. If there are things in your life you want changed or fixed, don’t stop looking for a way to accomplish those things.

Those conversations already cost me most of my relatives in 2016 and 2020. I just don’t have many familial relationships left on that side of my family.

All the people saying blonde are colorists. This is what dark blonde looks like. I am a professional colorist at a high end salon. Most average people just don’t know how to accurately assess color and think that only the lightest two shades of blonde are blonde.

It’s the part of the brain that handles reasoning and maturity. That’s why you either start acting grown around your mid20s or you never are going to.

I love hell-fire hot showers, I just love having soft, moisturized skin better. I never had bad skin when I took scalding showers, I just didn’t have incredible skin until I cooled my shower water off a bit.

She made this story public on her account, a story from her life that gave her hope and joy after profound darkness. And other people felt that hope and joy and shared her story here. It sure is an intimate moment, and briefly I got to share in the hope and joy of that moment. I appreciate her for sharing her story, even if she never knows it. I also appreciate you sharing your feelings here. It’s ok to casually encounter emotions that big and that intimate and not feel comfortable engaging with it. So if I'm following correctly, it is your belief that a person is transphobic if it is they're preference to not date a transgender person? I.e. you're saying cisgender people who are only attracted to other cisgender people are transphobic? Isn't that a little like calling a gay person heterophobic for not wanting to date someone of the opposite sex? Obviously a person's gender is a big part of sexual attraction, but we can't pretend like biological sex isn't a part of the equation too.
