I think the issue here is that you're reading past what people are actually posting. Someone saying "Jesse did nothing wrong" (beyond being a horrid take) arguably would break the bulletpoint you alluded to, but I haven't seen anyone post that. If it has been posted, absolutely report it and let the mods/admins take care of it.

Most of the comments I see here supporting Jesse are saying "separate the art from the artist", "Jesse has changed", or "X also did bad stuff and didn't get cancelled." While those are also takes I disagree with, none of those are endorsing or normalizing his actions or "flat out supporting/advocating for people to do stuff with minors." You can infer that someone may be normalizing his actions from that, but I think that's reductive of a contextualized statement and goes beyond what the Reddit rules and MCoC require moderators to remove.

I moderate several large communities too. The most effective way to deal with unpopular takes is to let the votes speak for themselves and ban people who take it too far. Reasonable minds can disagree on how to best handle that in a subreddit, and while you may have a more broad interpretation of Reddit's policy than myself or the mods here, that doesn't make it a "complete failure to moderate a community in a safe and appropriate way."

No worries, it's a bit confusing for sure! You can use a credit card to buy the SUICA card at the airport, which is what transit fares charge against. From there you have to refill it with yen. You can also purchase single route tickets with yen at a booth but I didn't really see anyone doing that when I visited - it was all SUICA or the iOS app.

Not planning on going personally, but for other shows I've been to at the Truman the line-up starts about an hour before doors (can vary a bit depending on how many tickets sold). There's usually like an hour between doors and the show starting, which is plenty of time to get in, grab a drink, and check out merch. You really only need to line up if you want to be right up against the stage.

All of the members at the time of dissolution except for Ian Watkins (who is in jail for some atrocious shit) formed No Devotion with Geoff. Lostprophets is retired as a band name and the BBC even banned their back catalogue from broadcast.

Probably just the way the mods have Automod configured. Kind of like the "Call 911 if you have an emergency" disclaimer on various phone tree systems.

I was worried about that too after having read several of the horror stories, but we bought from them after hearing several (admittedly anecdotal) good experiences from colleagues. We had no issues and got the title within two weeks of the sale.

Financially they're trending upward - you can read about the numbers via Forbes. But unless you're financing through them that shouldn't really matter, once you have the product your relationship with them is complete. And as others have said with other dealers, it's always best to bring your own financing.

You’re not going to get people to stop using Reddit and/or demand change if you disappear for 48 hours and then resume business as usual.

This is exactly what I said, I'm not sure what you feel I'm not understanding:

the protest as originally organized was ineffective. A longer and broader outage would have been required

We do care deeply about the issue, and there will still be impacts to this subreddit and our moderation workflows when the API changes are implemented. However, it's clear at this point based on Spez's comments that the protest as originally organized was ineffective. A longer and broader outage would have been required, and support within the moderator and broader Reddit communities was too fractured between those wanting a two day and indefinite outage. Continuing to keep the subreddits dark at this point would do little more than deprive our users of the community that we all love (or at least like a little bit).

Trust us, we are equally frustrated by Reddit's flagrant disdain toward its communities. Going forward, we are looking into ways to reduce our reliance on Reddit. We can't commit to anything yet, but we don't want to rely on a site that doesn't give a damn about its users.

We don't see Discord as a feasible alternative due to the volume of communication and synchronous flow of messages. In other words, a lot more bad stuff could happen in a lot shorter time. We are looking into other options, but Discord isn't one of them.

There's a good thread about it on the ELI5 subreddit here.

The Apollo dev specifically mentioned he was willing to pay, but that the API pricing is not feasible for him (or other third-party apps). See his posts here and here.

I feel like every time I walk into a Vintage Stock there's some kind of sale on comics. The different locations have different sized sections for their comics, so it might be worth poking around at a few.

I'm in a very similar situation and keep getting the same responses - too small of a job, too backed up. The painting places seemed to question why I was calling them if it wasn't a painting job. I've got a few places on my list to call for next week, can't speak to any of them personally but they're recommended from community groups I'm in:

  • Mr. Handyman: (816) 207-0774

  • Top Notch Handyman: (913) 240-3220

  • Husband for Rent KC: (816) 255-6111
