It's only a problem at the macro scale if it's a fundamentalist society with cultural pressure to join in to a specific subtype.

A polycule over here and a polycule over there isn't a problem. An even spread of polygynist and polyandrist relationships isn't a problem.

Cultural pressure to join in a relationship type you're not comfortable with is a problem. (For example, that includes any cultural pressure to be straight or any cultural pressure to be any form of poly.)

Also polygamy is used colloquially to refer to one man multiple wife's

Sounds like cultural pressure to me, which you are reinforcing.

Triasmus

highlight that high rates of polygyny create an operational shortage of marriageable women

You say that polygamy is immoral and unethical, I ask how, and you start with polygyny.

And really, most of those reasons are about the traditional polygyny, and/or being raised in a fundamentalist polygynist society (with the inherent cultural pressure).

I'll somewhat accept:

Fractionalized Resource Distribution

But the argument is largely about having more kids than the adults can physically, mentally, or emotionally handle. For some, one child is too many. That's not so much a polygamy/polygyny problem as a birth control problem (though it can be a slipperier slope in a polygynist relationship).

Overall, I rate your argument as pretty poor at validating your original claim, especially in the context of what you replied to; someone stating that it's fine between consenting adults.

Triasmus

How?

Triasmus

I agreed it's misogynistic.

It's just really not THAT terrible to go without food for a day.

Triasmus

OP is complaining at Tiffany, who seemed to realize on time that she's not at a sing-along

Triasmus

First, I agree that's misogynist.

But... seriously?? The way you're typing makes it sound like it's the end of the world to go a little hungry.

In my former religion, the most strict of us would go without food and drink for 24 hours on a monthly basis. It was uncomfortable, but it wasn't worth ALL CAPS.

Triasmus

But... she didn't sing. She realized she wasn't supposed to.

Triasmus

Monday just has all the power spots active. All the power spots weren't always active before Max Monday started.

Triasmus

Is it the action of drinking that's idiotic?

I drink soda in cars, sometimes.

Triasmus

Yeah. I imagine autists are just more willing to go against social norms and expectations in pursuit of their true self.

Triasmus

Oh, ok. So it's like a sorcerer using spell points? 😁

Triasmus

let alone read, any more than the Players Handbook.

Many of them don't even read the Players handbook, if they have it at all (even the basic ruleset that's free).

They're on the opposite side. They don't really need to know where you're going

Triasmus

Why are you talking about red lights in the context of lane splitting?

Do you even know what lane splitting is? Do you think it's the same as lane filtering?

Triasmus

Even if they'd pay 50% more to live, they'd get 100% more pay.

That rounds out to a net positive of at least $30k (and that's assuming they're spending their entire current paycheck to live)

Triasmus

Domain names?

Mine costs me like $12 every August. That's not something that hurts, and I get like 5 reminders before it charges.

Actually, I get like 5 reminders for all my yearly subscriptions (Google One, Mint Mobile, and my domain)

I'd advise that you just don't sign up for shady stuff in the first place, and set up notifications on your credit cards and bank accounts so you get a notification for every transaction.

The door opened under them, they fell in, broke their legs, then a wandering monster came and finished the job.

The $45 requires both paperless and autopay. It does claim new customers only, but it's normally pretty easy to get the cheaper deals, even as an existing customer.

Gfiber and Xfinity are both $70 for 1Gbps (obviously, go with gfiber if you can and need a gig)

Triasmus

Someone told you some very bad information about about atheists

Triasmus

You probably wouldn't notice a difference.

Triasmus

$45 for 300Mbps from Xfinity. $70 for gfiber.

It's basic math.

And with Xfinity I generally assume you can get a better deal if you try, which is why I said "save at least $25."

Triasmus

Don't get me wrong, gfiber is great. I have gfiber.

You almost certainly don't need gfiber. You'd save at least $25/month if you go with Xfinity 300Mbps plan, and most people really don't need more than that. They also have student deals that make it cheaper and/or faster. You just have to set a reminder to call in when your contract is ending.

If you're actually looking for deals, then Xfinity is the best. If you're looking for faster download and upload than you'll need and not having to worry about the end of your contract period 5 years from now, then gfiber is great, but you will be spending money you don't need to spend.

Triasmus

Wait... You think Mormons are actually messing with people's graves and/or their bodies?

They don't (well... besides digitizing gravestones... but you can't tell me it's better not getting digitized and added to a global gravestone database)

Triasmus

I'm just lucky to have the right type of neurodivergence that allowed me to bypass the emotional tempest that leaving religion normally comes with.
