Or something like No Return from TLOU2 with daily challenges and online leaderboards.
The SHÜM challenges!

Agreed. RTS' already have a timer. A natural one. The Real Time(r). If I ignore it, I lose the game. The timer starts when the enemy builds its first combat unit. No need to add another artificial one.

That's pretty much exactly what I'm doing right now. Although I put the label on another line to preserve readability ...but then it makes the code unnecessarily longer.
I understand the sentiment on goto but at the same time it feels frustrating when so obvious (and tiny) quality of life thing is missing from the language.
Tringi
Can someone please extract goto case and especially goto default from N3879 and re-propose it?
I could really use those.

Does anyone else think/hope/wish that this was just a patterned/copy of Arish, who's right now sitting in some distant liquor store and is up for a weird surprise when he returns to the Field office?

As a dev I've been toying with AI too. Not using it for anything in production though. Current state is really good for prototyping and demos, but requires heavy meticulous babysitting to get code that can evolve into final complete product. Otherwise you'll get fast to 70% of the way and then end up stuck with code that is so tangled and overcomplicated internally that it simply can't be finished.
Tringi
Probably clutch. If there's a weird acidic smell after that, then it's definitely the clutch.

Thanks for the info.
I presume there are no plans to change the first call to checking for all 15 (?) individual AVX-512 parts, just for this CPU generation, right? My point is that code compiled with /arch:AVX10.1 would run perfectly fine on 9006, but a dispatch checking for __IA_SUPPORT_AVX10 will not select it.
Tringi
So basically (with enough optimizations) it's duplicating vtable (extended of a pointer to the copy constructor) into the encapsulating type (std::polymorphic), right?
That looks quite useful, even if just for reducing boilerplate code, but also feels like something that should be core language feature (but perhaps of a different language).
Tringi
Eric /u/ericbrumer and perhaps STL /u/STL, a quick question regarding AVX10 detection:
Apparently new AMD EPYC 9006 CPUs report ALL individual AVX512 features that make AVX10, but don't report AVX10.1 via CPUID.24h interface. What can we expect check_isa_support(IA_SUPPORT_AVX10) to return?
Tringi
Why not three? It could be mind-bending (to new players) experience to play as a third distinct character in the flashbacks ...and then a big reveal.
Tringi
That might be the viable option.
Out of curiosity I checked online and it appears both are exceedingly rare. I'm pretty sure airsoft community would crucify you if you somehow managed to get both just to break and glue them together.
Tringi
I'm more curious if you're going for the accurate FN MAG 58/Lewis Gun hybrid.

Well, the events from The Ordinary would make for a great Silent Hill style game.
Dark, grim, serious. Two protagonists, kids, sometimes together, sometimes searching for each other. Sneaking, hiding and running from the enemies. Fighting with just a plank of wood. Rats instead of SH2 bugs. Don't shy from more disgusting portrayal of Not Mother nursing Dung Monkeys (18+) etc. Make it realistic.
There could be flashbacks exploring more before their split. Or chronological; start with JDF leaving school for Christmas and have things change not all at once, just like in AW2, and don't explain anything to confuse the crap out of new players. There was so much material in the notes and videogame segments that could be heavily expanded on.
We know how it would end, but it would be ride nonetheless.
Or maybe do have different endings based on exploration, how many friends you save, or if you prioritize your sibling.

Winnie gets a second dragon in the Gap when you finish the quest line in NG+.
Now I'm curious about NG++

This is close to something I have in mind for quite some time now, and repeatedly keep trying to secure some funding to make it. I keep wondering though: would it actually be fun?
Tringi
Added "shake mouse to locate" feature to my tool, which highlights the active window on successful Ctrl+C (because sometimes it just doesn't).

"The destination is behind the parking garage" - means I'm circling half the damn zone.

Up until recently I was still using Snapdragon 835 laptop (NovaGo). The battery life was amazing. Like four times any other laptop I ever had. I had Visual Studio on it and used it to rebuild software at clients when necessary. It wasn't blazingly fast, but it sufficed.
But it started faulting recently.
It was already occasionally crashing to BSOD. Though always when left unattended, never when I was working on it. That started when it was "professionally" restored by ASUS tech support. It had Win10 1709 originally, which I upgraded to eventually abandoned branch of Insider builds. Of course ASUS wouldn't give me proper image, nor drivers, they had to do it themselves, so that's that.
While Windows 10 1709 is the last version which officially supported 835, I'm on Windows 11 23H2 (22631) which is the last one that supports 835 technically. All newer builds require ARMv8.1 instruction set, while this is 8.0 only. The Enterprise edition will still get security updates until November, so that's nice.
But like I said, something's happening to it. Apps started crashing randomly. Half of the pages in Settings are broken. Visual Studio won't mostly even load a project. The system feels still stable and I still use it to test my software, but that's the extent of it.

I wonder if was truly an accident that JDF was split, or if maybe something was orchestrated on behalf of The Board or some other strong entity?
Perhaps Hedron beams getting through even before the Slide Projector was activated. We've seen Hedron energy duplicate people, especially in the Underpass, and combined with OoP that's the Severed Circle 2 and explicit wish of the JDF it might've caused this split. Who knows what will Remedy go with in their next chapters, but I'm stoked for whatever they do.

Even 5:4 (1280×1024)
As a programmer I loved those back in the day. They would fit more lines of code.

Far from the best objectively, but subjectively for me it's the classic Earth 2140.

This was happening and sort of is still happening to me on GTX 1070. Unfortunately nVidia no longer maintains support for this cards in their latest drivers.
My trick was to revert from latest Game Ready (582.66) to stable Studio Driver (581.57) and after rebooting it will last for about 7 hours before crashing. If I start the game again it lasts 4 hours, then less than hour, and then will crash after 5 minutes. Rebooting the PC makes it 7 hours again.
That's enough for me. But some drivers, man.

Well, I got those good old nostalgic feelz, playing something on 320×200, so that my GTX 1070 squeezes out 30 fps.
* 1280×720 really, but considering my first monitor was 13" and now I play on 27", it almost matches.
I was hoping to see "The City" in The Quarry in the first CONTROL.
