Great way of putting it. Between the opening and Travis Baldree narration I kept trying to listen, wanting it to be good. Alas…

Personally found it to start out great and then the pace fell way off. Good book for people who like to spend time with characters but have less concern for advancing the plot.

The Stitched Worlds by Macronomicon is exactly what you are looking for.

Yelan. I was only pulling to get Yanfei constellations but damn did she turn out great. Even got her C1.

I had a close friend who passed away after going through almost the same situation. He and his wife did have a child. Having spent time with his widow and child after he passed, I would say it was a positive for her to have him. Having someone to care for in a time of grief can be comforting. People are different, of course, but I wouldn’t assume it will be purely a burden on her.

‘We are Legion (We are Bob)’. Despite being sci-fi, it is both progression and the main character’s advancement is a result of research / technological advancement.

If you’re willing to go a little old school, I can recommend The Novels of Tiger and Del by Jennifer Roberson. No really explicit sex scenes. It’s all about the two of them though, and their extremely rocky road to a happy ending together. I do suggest stopping after book four, it goes a bit off the rails after that (still a happy ending overall, but loses a lot of its spark).

Spent 86 wishes on the Yelan banner trying to take my Yanfei main from C4 to C6. Now I have C4 Yanfei and C1 Yelan. 😢

Couldn’t stand Travelers Gate myself. The characters were just terrible.

Saw an article about this chapter and it got me curious. I stopped reading about vol 29 when Shigaraki turned out to be basically indestructible and fighting him turned into this boring sequence of heroes trying to hit him hard enough to do damage and failing. Just not an interesting villain at that point, at least make him work for it. It sounds a lot like that's still where things stand, which is disappointing as I really enjoyed My Hero before and have been tempted to give it another try. For those still reading, what would you say keeps you coming back?

Not true. I have created accounts in apps on my iPhone and then switched to paying the subscription directly with the publisher. You can't do it through the app, but they don't prevent the publisher from sending you promotions encouraging a direct purchase.

Sidekicks by Arthur Mayor. Main character takes a lot of beating and keeps on going.

I somewhat regret Yae. She was my first 5* after I started playing at the end of Ganyu's re-run. Didn't really want Yae, but was lacking in characters at the time and figured I would at least end up with more 4 stars. She's a decent character, but nothing that special. I did end up with her C1 though, as I got a bonus pull of her a couple ten pulls after getting C0 at hard pity.

Yelan was another 5* I didn't really want, have her C1 as well after getting her C0 at pity I pulled her again shortly after. Ended up liking her on my team, but my regret is that I spent 86 wishes trying to get Yanfei's C5 and C6 only to get neither... but a C6 of both Barbara and Noelle.

Superpower Chronicles by Arthur Mayor. Plucky protagonist who is always outclassed but manages to find a way through.

Have your friend look at buying the Kindle version with audible as an add-on. Last I checked the combined price for Unsouled when purchased that way was $3.

Not sure I could read the Kindle sequel after listening to Travis Baldree for the first. Hope the audio version isn’t too far behind.

Ah so jealous! I’m about 60 pulls into trying to get my C4 Yanfei to C6. So far I have a C5 Barbara, a C2 Noelle, a C0 Yelan… and a C4 Yanfei. So sad.

Be nice if they'd break that rule this time. I have a long road trip coming up next week...

Noooo! I was trying for my last two constellations on Yanfei. No Yanfei, but a random Yelan drop. Really just wanted to max out my current lineup, but how do you turn down building a 5 star who synergizes with the pyro archon? The game clearly saw me playing FFXIV and is determined to suck me back in.
