Physical disability exists on a spectrum. Ambulatory wheelchair users exist. You cannot judge a complete stranger’s level of ability by observing them boarding and deplaning once. Wait your turn and MYOB.

I’m a healthcare provider (OT) and I’ve worked with a lot of patients that developed encephalopathy during/following to a major infection. In some cases it did present with delusional thinking or hallucinations.

Imo he appeared to accept or ignore criticism more during his “I’ve learned and changed as a person” apology era and then it ramped up again after he got sick. I haven’t followed him consistently for 25 years. This is just my observation based on when I was reading his original blog as a middle schooler and when I started following him again 3ish years ago. I only really see his interactions with (paying) Patreon subscribers. He generally doesn’t bite the hands that feed him so I thought it was odd when there was a sudden uptick in him arguing with people in the comments. 🤷🏻‍♀️

By that logic we should lower the point of entry for OT/PT/ST, because there’s such a great need for providers. But we don’t, because there’s an understanding that to provide skilled services it requires a higher level of education and training. There’s more nuance to this for sure. That’s accurate. There are a lot of states where industries that are rural-based (like Ag) is the backbone of the economy. But rural NV is largely propped up by revenue brought in by the cities. Which I don’t disagree with. Just straight up not enough people in rural NV to be 100% self-sustainable. But they don’t need to have a complex about it.

Oh my god same. I do PK-12 school-based OT and the proportion of my kids that don’t know how to play is horrifying. Like, it used to be that a common issue with autism was that their play was repetitive, limited, and didn’t involve other kids. Now they don’t even do that. They just sit idle and wait for an adult to give them a tablet.

My district gave me an iPad that I’ve never used because I don’t want my kids to see me as a source of screen time.

Then when they got divorced I told her this and she cried. I understand why she was upset. But it was still frustrating to see her be sad about something that traumatized me.
