part of that is establishing a habit, so you don't have to think about it - you learn that "I always handle glasses this way", so your busy brain does not need to even make a split second judgement about the status of the glass

He has had several round table occasions where he was named multiple times that he has not rebounded from yet. People are still accusing him. Could others have talked their way out of it and gotten back in the Failthfuls' good graces?

But that's just perpetuating it, it's not the root cause.

Maybe it is Mission 1 Shield. Maybe people think he is not serious because he overtly expressed interest in Madeline, including saying in confessionals that he needed to focus on the game, not the women.

For anyone interested, here's some information that helped me better understand the difference between the terms racism and implicit bias :

Implicit Bias operates entirely at an automatic level. People are generally unaware they hold these mental shortcuts. Occurs even when individuals consciously reject stereotypes, support fairness, and consider themselves unprejudiced.

Racism (or sexism) can be explicit, conscious, and overt (such as open hostility, slurs, or deliberate discrimination)
