Having children is something humans have done forever. A healthy society should cover the costs to bring a child into the world safely.

This joke has layers

When I was looking for an apartment, I found using a local real estate agent was helpful. Granted it was because I was moving from out of state and could not tour. The agent was able to find apartments for rent by smaller private landlords which were sometimes cheaper and usually had less fees on top of the rent compared to the corporate owned buildings. Some of them are posted online on sites like Zillow but not all of them. Worth looking into.

It is generally the same with many schools calling it Material Science and Engineering (MSE). There are some universities that offer courses in physics or chemistry that could be considered as material science but not exactly engineering, like solid state physics, crystallography, etc. However, if you are interested in applied material science, the name of the degree being science or engineering will have no impact on job prospects.

Tariffs only move manufacturing back to the host country If that becomes the next best option. To enable this it is best to have targeted tariffs with coupled investment in domestic industries and supply chains. With blanket tariffs either the importing companies absorb the cost and recover it in raised prices or look for alternative low cost economies (India, Bangladesh, etc.) to move their supply chains to.

With China there are some industries that would be good candidates for tariffs, steel for example, but a blanket “punishment” tariff on all imports would lead to massive price inflation with minimal if any domestic industrial growth.

I’m live in the DMV area and just getting into home brewing. Let me know If it’s still available. I’d love to come by and pick it up. We can coordinate over DM’s.

This is such a broad question. To give a more helpful answer I would need more context. Are you a student looking for a degree program? A professional looking for some new skills? Etc. what materials fields are you looking to use/study.

Computational tools are used across all materials and in all length scales. Having familiarity with the tools and their capabilities is becoming more and more expected. However lots of universities and companies will teach you what they need you to know as you go.

That’s fair. I enjoyed the slow parts but I also binged the hell out of that arc in the beginning of a summer break so I might have an odd perspective.

If it’s a big box store or national brand, who cares. But a local businesses yeah fuck that.

They don’t have to be. 5 over ones (5 apartment floors over one street level of commercial) are very popular.

I heard that ad too. It was so weird lol. I wonder if they use dynamic ad insertion.

Reality truly is a minecraft server with crazy shaders on.

You got this!

Or talk to people who have some sign of shared interest. Game sticker on a laptop, college sweatshirt, whatever. People generally are fine with a few exchanges about something they know about or like. Maybe they are busy and/or not in the mood to talk more. You may only get a “oh! Thanks!” But the ability to initiate conversation is a good skill to practice and it’s usually safe to talk about things that the other person has decided to put on display.

I love when Red goes “it’s Morgen Time” and then morgened all over those guys

Just went from R9 290 to RX 6750 XT. It feels so much better now.

I got arms from each of the encounters on my first run. It felt so bad!

There are a lot of valid criticisms of how Elon has handled the acquisition Twitter. The easiest way to summarize is that he is very inexperienced in running “software as a service” company and is publicly working through that. This is unnerving to users and advertisers alike. Combine that with the very hands on approach he is taking and the amount of and the threatening of lay-offs it is an environment that is at an elevated risk for unforced mistakes. Mistakes that could lead to leaked/hacked DM’s, passwords, or other personal data. I’m sure there is more but that is what stands out to me.

The rail companies in the US did ask Congress to make it illegal for rail worker to strike this year.

Yep I’m still rocking mine. Planning on upgrading next year.

You can have a social security number and not be a citizen.

This is correct. She rose to this position and is not behaving in a way to preserve the hierarchy. The conservatives and reactionaries response is to say she does not deserve to be at that level, because they believe that hierarchical structure is natural, good, and enduring. Therefore anyone in the hierarchy working against it must be at the wrong position and is called unnatural, evil, and destructive.
