I don't find it odd. Saying 'vast majority' in exclusevely english sub is also a stretch. Pretty shure vast majority lives outside of EU, US, Russia and Ukraine and pretty shure they don't really give a shit just yet. The fact that UN members are passing some sort of resolution is not even an argument here since UN allowed Kosovo, it also allowed Lybia and many more wars. They are repeating same things, pretty much word for word, which is a clear sign that they actually don't care. Now, regarding the gains. Media tells how putin is a crazy evil mastermind in one sentence and then invites analysts that say he is making one mistake after another. Make up your mind already. There is much more to it than ambitions of one man. It baffles me that you actually believe that. So contrary to what you have said, right now the US actually stands to gain more. Russia and Ukraine, two biggest states on the EU border are at war, they are essentially removed from trading. EU is in paralysis and again fully relies on the US. US will get massive military contracts and so on. Its a win-win. Look up Marshall plan, its very similar startedy here, post pandemic and post war restoration fueled by foreign debt. A great long term dependancy.

Maybe i will. Would you like to a transcript? You seem to enjoy responding without any actual useful information.

See, we don't know that. We only get western sources claiming all sorts of stuff, having some obscure timetables and so on. But really this was never set in stone, i don't think. Ukraine is a large country, and russian operation has not even tried to push for western borders. Its an important signal which just gets burried under media storm. The kremlin repeatedly said they do not intend to occupy the country, but to essentially get rid of certain movements and people. I can't really tell how exactly they intend to do it, but certainly not by bulldozing the country. Its a very complex issue, and the west chooses to completely deny any responsibility while supplying weapons to literally anyone. Ukraine is in real bad spot either way, theybwill never be able to get hold of all those weapons, it is such a mess.
Urtel
Yep, and SAR has specific physics behind it which is very helpful in many ways. Optical is nice to have, but is really just for show, exactly like here
Urtel
I can't say for shure how exactly the pipeline is for each operator, especially for military applications, i suspect there is some sort of manual priority management going on, but it still takes time. There are certain technological limitations, satellites make imagery not like a snapshot on your phone, its a scan type of deal and its a rather large. Even for GBit bandwidth that most satellites have. Also you can't just cut a piece, you have to make up the entire scene first, and then you cut pieces out for further transmition. I don't think it makes sense to explain here how it works, if you are curious, there are plenty info availabe if you search for earth observation or remote sensing. I have a solid experience in the commercial field and very much confident in what i posted here, although people seem to disagree, as couch experts do on reddit.
Urtel
Sadly it is not) Think of how far you can drive in 30 minutes. Those images do not cover entire globe in one go, its a very narrow strip about 15-30 km. People very much like to call this real time and whatever else they invent to sound cool, but remote sensing, especially optical, has substantial limitations. Hence why military uses SAR and drones more often.
Urtel
Theese are commercially available products, not actual spy satellites. And typically the delay for them is substantial. Data downlink is not the major factor here, processing it is.
Urtel
Its not about light, its about transmission of raw data to the processing factory, processing and from there to ground units. It takes more than a few minutes. Close to 30ish i would guess. And on top of that you get delayes due to actual orbital positioning which typically allows for 1-3 acquisitions of one area per satellite. So not more than 9 images at best, usually 1-2. And after that its out of reach for the next few days depending on the orbital parameters. That is why i said that RTS-type is a stretch. But obviously this is way better than ordinary basemap you get online for free.
Urtel
No such technology actually widely used, nor is it real time. The delay is pretty substantial due to data transmition and processing
Urtel
Shure, but why aren't they running west then? Shurely their own military would let them out, so they would not get captured by horrible russian troops that would send them all to gulag. Does not make any sense.
Urtel
Certainly looks like it. Unless their government strongly suggested to do so, which should be even more disturbing.
Urtel
The? Were you looking for me specifically? Give yourself a dedication medal and piss off :)
Urtel
I disagree that any sort of mention is by default an implication.
Lets say you and i have a couple rocks. And then there are a few others around us without rocks.
I tell you: See, i have rocks.
You tell me: I have rocks too, they are bigger than yours.
I tell you: But i have more rocks.
And so on... We don't assume we will be throwing rocks at each other. Others do not assume that either.
But when i say: My rocks can hit hard if they fall.
Now that is implying using them.
And if i say: I can throw rocks. That would be a threat.

I think you are overestimating the heavy thinking that he clearly did before coming up with such marvelous comparisons. Sometimes things Rogozin says are just monumental, stressing on mental here. However they are always memorable, give him that. Also he aint that crazy most of the time and generally says quite logical and sensible things. Not many of those things get quoted or actually go beyond russian media either. Clearly mediums like arstechnica are not interested in those. But sometimes we get brooms or whatever and they hit hardcore.
Urtel
A sensible comment? Downvoted. How dare you say world is not black and white
Urtel
Now, see, we don't like this kind of rational thinking here. It must be an evil plot. Plot by evil people that want evil things to happen for the glory of evil. Otherwise its lies. /s

We have laws and more or less clear borders with guards theese days. But how many bodies do you think outweight that security? Because right now it is not a mass exodus, but some say it will happen someday. Thats when 5th century rules will make a comeback.
Urtel
They probably would talk about it either way, with or without doping scandals. They just know people would watch this stuff. Calling names on state channels is disgusting. You almost certainly correct that it is one way to divert attention too. However the argument itself about atheletes of different biological origin competing together is a pretty important issue. If this trend keeps going, some sports might eventually become dominated by tans atheletes, effectively removing biological women from competition.

This is fake news at its best. When i had the virus, i was prescribed hydroxychlorochine or whoever you spell it. The day i took it, i immediatly got better, so did others i know. It might have side effects for some people, i heard for older men it is unsafe, but it works. I think the problem is that it is relatively cheap and that is no good for some.
Urtel
have a nice day under your troll bridge
Urtel
Its not about ignoring it, its about distinguishing where it belongs and where it does not.
Urtel
Honestly, i don't think real life politics belongs here. I love the cast and what they do, but this should not be here
Urtel
If you distrust any kind of russian sources, it is impossible to prove anything, as there are no major western outlets that reported this, at least not yet. I agree that most english articles i saw are just "not great" i would say. If you are willing to trust russian sources that are considered independent and liberal check out theese links:

Those are considered generally trustworthy and not government-controlled.

I like how everybody blames just the student, but apparently border control did not mind the document being altered. I might as well change my citizenship for lulz
Usually that means they are from Ukraine. All of the russian-speaking community is full of similar responses even on topics quite unrelated to the conflict. There is a lot to talk there, but is off topic.
