This is sorta useful in California, because the only land based venomous snakes in the state are all rattlers. I’m not sure about the keeled scales and geometric patterns though.

Obviously! You still have to pay the help at least California minimum wage to scrub it with a toothbrush. Ripping it out to avoid food poisoning is a solid choice.

If you're concerned about venomous snakes, you can invest in snake fencing. If installed correctly, it will keep heavy-bodied snakes, such as rattlesnakes, out of your yard.

But if you live in a place with venomous arboreal snakes, you're out of luck. Unless you want to create a snake-proof cage for your whole yard. That's going to be very expensive and require a lot of maintenance.

You're better off trying to learn more about the snakes that live in your area, so that you can tell friend from foe.
