Yeah it's probably legit. If your Caspian's shields and hull are unengineered and you've got no shield boosters or hull reinforcements, or if you've downgraded your shield generator for weight saving. Then there are tons of ship/weapon/engineering combinations that can basically one shot you.

Pretty much any place in open where there are going to be lots of players is going to have gankers waiting to quickly kill anyone they figure can't fight back. They mostly do it to get people to post complaints about it and they'll come and shit talk the people who complain on whatever platform.

It's not too hard to make your ships survivable and learn the skills to survive most encounters in open play if you want to keep playing there. But you don't have to worry at all in solo, and it's very safe in moderated private groups like Mobius. Basically, decide what you want out of your play session any time you start the game and pick your mode accordingly.

What I'm talking about is Russia potentially being able to execute a fighting retreat to a reinforced position with fire support. Or something similar as a feint or a trap. It's something they should already be able to do on paper. I'm suggesting that eventually they may be able to do it in real life.
The ability to successfully operate new equipment isn't going to counter that. Intel, planning, communication, and coordination will counter that. All things Ukraine has been very successful with, and I've no doubt will continue to be very successful with.
A well executed fighting retreat or feint into a trap will still increase the danger posed by the Russians. It won't necessarily lead to a Russian victory or a Ukrainian defeat as long as Ukraine doesn't become complacent, but show me where I said it would. I implied that they could adapt over time and become more dangerous, that's it.

My argument is that Russia is capable of basic learning and shouldn't be dismissed off hand. I'm not suggesting they pull off some kind of miracle. What's flawed about that? I'm not saying Ukraine isn't paying attention. Just that it's important that they do.

Ukraine has done an amazing job and have consistently outmatched them. They have stopped Russia hard, and have prevented them from achieving any further strategic goals and very likely any further tactical goals. I'm not suggesting that Russia is going to rEaLlY sTaRt fIgHtInG, only that they are capable of adapting to Ukraine's tactics and have shown that over the past year.
Russia is weakened and with any luck large sections of the front will be ready to collapse, or can be weakened to that point quickly. I am hoping that we see another thunder run like the Kharkiv offensive.
I believe that Russia cannot win at this point, what they currently hold is very likely the most they'll ever hold again. But they are still a long way from losing, and this war will likely go on for a long time yet. I'm confident that they won't, but it's important that Ukraine doesn't become complacent and expect Russia to keep making the same mistakes forever. Bad soldiers are still dangerous, so is old equipment, and they are gaining experience as the survivors are distributed amongst newer units. They're not going to become an elite fighting force, but they could still cause a lot of harm if they manage to pull off an actual feint and some kind of trap.
