Maybe give him a brush and a little cup of clean water to “paint” a piece of cardboard beside you? He gets to join in, and your rinse water can stay out of reach.

Ai exclusivitate la povești 😄 Să vezi dacă începe și tati să inventeze!

The cars and magnetiles are a nice detail — he doesn't have to sit still to enjoy the story. Did he take to listening straight away, or did you start by sitting with him for a bit?

Hi, we're the team behind Vladi’s Library, an audio story app for children aged 2–8. It supports Romanian, English, German, Spanish, French and Italian; the stories available vary by language.

You can listen together or read the text aloud yourself. For families looking for stories in their home language, there are short audio samples on our website to try before downloading.

We use AI for text and voices, and library stories are reviewed before publication. It’s a story library, not a language course.

A little storybook could be fun: fold a sheet of paper in half, let your child draw a character on the front, then ask what happens to them inside. You can write down their words exactly as they tell you, even if the entire plot is a rabbit eating toast. Add their name as the author and read it together later.

If you want another option for part of that nap window, you could try an audiobook of a story he already knows, with some paper and crayons nearby. He can listen, draw, or just lie down. I'd start with one short story rather than trying to fill the whole afternoon. It doesn't have to become another activity you need to organise.

Would audio stories work too? Our app, Vladi’s Library, has stories for children in Romanian and English. It won’t replace the picture books you’re looking for, but it might be a useful addition for listening together.
