The people saying that pvp ships do better with ops are right because you want heavy upfront tank and big dps weapons without much regard to long-term sustain. Packhounds are useful for taking out kestrel drives but you have to be careful that you don't yeet the kestrel mid boost and it flies away forever. You also have to synth ammo for those.

I messed with a build for a bit and I came up with this: https://tinyurl.com/operations-chally

The weapons are interesting. I tried to fit railguns with gimbaled multies but the power consumption was too high to maintain a good shield tank. I switched to gimbaled multies and fixed cascade cannons and that worked out. The cascade raises npc heat and makes them want to stop boosting, shooting or banking.

You should have the cannons and multicannons on 1 and 2 and the two banks on power priority 4 on another firegroup with the heatsink. When you're out of ammo with the first set of banks, you turn on the two 4A banks and the first pair shuts off automatically. You then single fire the second pair of banks with no sink using the bank hotkey.

Spec grade 4 is cooler and therefore better but you can probably get away with grade 3. Hulltanking is not optimal in operations as the npcs will missilespam your weapons away. You should end up with around 10,300 raw mj of shields and almost 13,300 mj of thermal shield. Just stay on top of banking and you'll do pretty well.

I went with lightweight reactive hull cuz all the new ships are hella fast and I wanted you to keep up at least a little bit. You could theoretically run pure lightweight heavy duty deep plating hull and switch the 1D hull reinforcement to heavy duty deep plating.

Good luck o7!
