What's weird to me is they could have changed just a few things, and done enough to shake things up.

For example, instead of Jake breaking out on his own, have the climax of the movie being a mission to break him out. That would switch up the Na'vi on the defensive in the final battle that we've had the last two films. Would also grow the Na'vi as willing to take action without Jake there to lead them. And puts the final battle in a completely new location, being Bridgehead City.

Just one idea, but I feel like there are a few of those you could have done to keep the movie similar, but different enough to alleviate the feeling of just watching the exact same climax we've seen before.

Basically the same as what happened to me, though I started with Elantris after reading The Gathering Storm, loved it, then moved to Mistborn which I liked even more. Now I Basically get everything Brandon puts out lol.

WeardearOmega

I found Brandon's work through his finishing of Wheel of Time, so I think it also did a little to bring in new people and grow the community. Plus, I liked Wheel of Time, and liked his books, and I'm glad a fan of the series got to finish it and see it through.

They were tiny cameos. Be real, if Suki appeared for the same amount of screen time, would you be satisfied? No, you wanted her to be a major character and have a full role. There just wasn't room for that in the movie. No one cared cabbage guy was there just as a joke.

I... I don't think you understood the point of this post...

I was actually really disappointed they didn't cover it more. It seemed like Jason especially didn't click with it, and only Maddy finished it, but it was my absolute favourite game of last year, and one of my favourites in a long time, so I was sad they didn't talk about it more.

I'll second the recommendation in another comment about MinnMax's Deepest Dive episodes; I listened to those to get a fix for discussion on the game, and they were really good. Especially fun to listen to their predictions when halfway through the game, knowing the ending.

I actually like the idea behind having specific enchants for specific types of enemies, and as it stands now, Smite is actually a decent choice since there are a lot of enemies, and a boss, that it is useful against. I think they should just add new arthropod enemies and a boss (maybe a termite cave biome that spawns underground with a queen to fight?).

I was looking for this! Love that movie's portrayal of dragons to this day.

I just built a 20 refinery plastic factory, that turned the residue into fuel, then turbofuel to power drone shipping.

I was wondering why I wasn't getting as much turbofuel as I expected, turned out I'd done the math wrong in step one and had built for twice the amount of residue than I was getting.

I got super lucky that I unlocked diluted fuel right as I figured this out, so switched to using blenders for making fuel, but I felt like a moron.

I found this genuinely one of the more entertaining Civ games to watch in a while. It was all just so much more relaxed, and reminds me a lot more of the casual games I play with my own set of friends (since we aren't necessarily going to try and murder each other out of the game). I know a lot of people want the Yogscast to play Civ more ruthlessly, but I'm not sure why, this was much more chill as a viewing experience, and yet still had tension as the scoreboard shifted near the end of the game.

WeardearOmega

Nah, Mulan should be Lin Beifong, with the grapple as the metal wires.

WeardearOmega

Hey, welcome back! Glad you are playing again and enjoying the game. I also wish this community was more positive. There is always a place for constructive criticism, and that doesn't need to involve tearing the devs or each other apart. So I'm here to support your quest!

WeardearOmega

I'm in the same boat. Wish there were more 1-5$ options for spending money in the game.

WeardearOmega

I was going to comment almost the same thing. I love the dramatic highs of Critical Role but I also love the dumb shenanigans, and this arc seems mostly shenanigans with some story related beats mixed in. That's my ideal spot I think, so it's always bizzare to hop on this sub and see so much negativity.

WeardearOmega

If you look at the top comment of the most recent post, you'll see this meme suggested. I was assuming this was a conscious reference to that on the part of OP.

WeardearOmega

Totally agree with you. Don't know if it was my favourite of the phase, but it was certainly one of the highlights and stuck with me more than many of the others.

I also agree with your critiques. It was a good movie that had some issues, but one of the best climaxes of this phase, and in my opinion the best looking Marvel project by a mile.

If anyone is looking for a game with mechanics kind of like those in the Cytoverse books, check out Chorus ( or Chorvs based on the logo). It is an open world space combat game but the main character has psychic powers and a ship with an AI that she has a rocky relationship with. They are fighting an evil cult bent on summoning mysterious entities from a mirror dimension from which they get the psychic powers. The powers include teleporting, extending your senses, phychicly paralysing or controlling other pilots and shooting forward as an unstoppable force.

I must warn you though, the story is... Not great. Although the game is quite a bit of fun, the combat and exploration of the maps especially, the writing has not really impressed me. Characters are kind of one note, or all over the place. People who should be relevant to the larger plot are introduced out of nowhere for a single mission and then disappear. It's a bit of a bummer in an otherwise fun game.

Thank you for putting into words exactly what I have been feeling. I keep seeing critiques of the background story dismissed as "this is Phase 1 again, they need to set things up". But as you pointed out, Phase 1 was 4 movies and then we got Avengers. That in turn set up the Infinity War saga. People assume we want the new big sage, but I just want the new team-up.

One thing I find baffling is that I'm not even sure if the Avengers exist in the MCU anymore. Like, no one has mentioned them doing anything! Maybe this has been answered elsewhere, but will there be a new Avengers team and a movie to introduce them? Or will there be a new team up? The fact that we don't know at this point is what disappointing me, not that we don't have the next big bad hinted at for 2 phases from now.

If you haven't yet, go watch the movie Underwater. Not the best movie ever (I'd give it a 6.5-7, more than the 5.8 it sits at on IMDB), but you could totally head-cannon it being in the Monsterverse.

WeardearOmega

Definitely the way it is supposed to be understood. The "human wars" are considered bad by the Superiority because they won, so they got to say the humans were the aggressors, because their morality was that of the winning side.

Big snek

I switch back and forth between listening and watching. There are advantages and disadvantages to both formats. Like you, I find that watching is too limiting in terms of time. It is a lot of content to catch up on. So I listen as well while doing chores, walking places, etc.

I find listening fine. You get almost everything that is going on. You miss some of the chemistry between the cast, but I find for the most part you can figure out what is going on. Matt's descriptions are fantastic, so actually when he is narrating something, I find the purely audio format allows you to immerse yourself in the world a bit better than while watching.

The exception to this is combat. When they have a map out, and are moving around, they often skip over descriptive words that would help you understand the context a bit more. They say "I'll move... over here. Yeah behind that. Perfect." What is that? Where is here? Hard to tell.

My solution to this has been, when possible, that if bring a map out I open the youtube video, get a look at the map, and then switch back to the audio after getting an idea of what the terrain looks like. However, it is totally still possible to follow the general sense of the combat over audio.

So in general, video maybe slightly edges out audio, but if you are trying to catch up and can't find time for video, the audio is fantastic.

This is a really fair take, and a discussion point I'd love to see brought up more. I prefer the WoT show, but it does have flaws and areas that could be improved upon (especially the pacing and some really weird editing choices). But all anyone wants to talk about is how faithful it is or is not to the book.

As mentioned, I disagree about which I enjoy more, but looking at them objectively I do think the Witcher has a leg up in terms of general quality (though can sometimes get a bit bogged down in its own complexity). And neither holds a candle to GoT, even the later season after it went off the rails still had superb production quality and fantastic performances, it was just the writing that got.. well, you know... bad.

Putting this everywhere I can because I think people are misremembering, but I believe this version of Mat's healing is supposed to be akin to the very quick one that Moiraine does originally in Caemlyn when they all meet up again. Check chapters 41 and 42 of EotW if you want a refresher. If true there is probably a more extensive healing coming down the road.

I've put this elsewhere in this tread, but I believe this version of Mat's healing is probably supposed to be the very quick one that Moiraine originally does originally in Caemlyn when they all meet up again (just checked my book, chapters 41 and 42 of EotW if you want a refresher). If that is the case, there will likely be a more extensive healing down the road.
