I don't watch plays, I won't acknowledge attempts at doing anything but Winds of Winter. If you're not able to convey things properly within the books, just don't. See the Harry Potter stuff, but I won't impose this on anyone else. I cannot, however, talk about the play, only logic.

In a medieval setting, getting married young is normal. Adulthood is defined by puberty.

The issue I'm trying to convey, is that, within a setting where being married at 14 is normal. The daughter of a high lord (and even a son really) do not get to consent to marriage or any such thing on their own, nor elope. The bride is 'given' by the head of her household, into the husband's household. Anything else, legally and politically, would simply be r*pe and invalid.

In our current framework, a person can just get married, but not a 14 years old to a married man with children.

You cannot have medieval morality about the one, but not the other. You cannot cherry pick, unless explicitly mentioned that's fine and dandy, which would be narratively insane.

Now, there's something to make things worse. Lyanna, is to be married to another high lord. Not 'considering' not 'thinking about' but agreed upon by her father and the Baratheons. That's not something you can 'sweep under the rug' or 'accepted because screw it' like if, for example, Ned married Ashara just so.

To add insult to injury, Rhaegar has children with a princess of Dorne. Making any child produced by Lyanna a threat to Dorne (regardless of what Martin will say posthumously about Elia being totally into it, wink wink,) since accidents do happen and Aegon could just die naturally or not...making Lyanna's sons eligible, since Elia can no longer bear them.

Targs do have multiple wives, but they happen to be their sisters, it does wonders for making sure it's a single bloodline, but even then...see Maegor.

So you have a married man with children, married to a Princess of Dorne, who gave him a son and heir. Wooeing a 14 years old girl ten years younger than him, abandoning the realm in growing chaos to spend time with her. The 14 years old girl is daughter of a High Lord, and promised to a High Lord, both having ties with two other High Lords by fostering or marriage. All this in a period of great instability due to a mad king Rhae wanted to depose. Lyanna's father and head of house didn't consent to this marriage, which for a noble would make it invalid at best, r*pe at worst, under their logic. In ours, it's rape because she's underage by at least two years. No ifs, buts, or whys.

It, literally, couldn't be worse. Feel me?

Edit: Typos, and even if even if everything somehow worked out, Lyanna would fall off the stairs and break her neck real quick. If you catch what I'm dropping. Probably just before her pregnancy is due.

It shouldn’t be limited, but we should be free to hate on it too.

Some things have to be done properly and given enough thoughts, others can be used as comedy...violence aien’t one of them. A fight must have a reason, even flimsy because it’s what gives it value and meaning and keeps fiction from reaching the murder hobo stage.

The slapstick beating has no narrative value, no character building and really I have yet to meet someone who enjoys it. Maybe some do, but it can’t be that large of a demographic.

Not comedic, just fan service for a peculiar bunch.

Women in anime are often badly written character made to sell more and please a very specific sort of people, it’s sad but true. Even good characters have their fans service moments, which can ruin them for others.

Look at Erza in fairy tail as an example, narratively awesome, but the execution turned her into classic eye candy number 35.

Women getting physical with men in anime is just the other side of the coin, I think. The only way to strike 'balance' with the bull the mangaka are writing is another bull of equal value on the other team.

Me thinks it’s time to change things, break some codes that should be broken.
