Further Seems Forever is my go to, especially their first album. Very dynamic and emotional. Chris Carrabba sings vocals on that one, but the music is more like Clarity-era Jimmy Eat World. Awesome combo.
Also worth bringing up Mineral. They definitely were not part of the Christian music scene, but they’re a 90’s Midwest Emo band whose songs are rife with openly Christian lyrics. I like The Power of Failing a lot, and it’s considered a landmark album in Emo circles.
Some others I enjoy…
On the poppier side:
Relient K - Mmhmm
Anberlin - Never Take Friendship Personal
The Juliana Theory - Emotion is Dead
Mae - The Everglow
On the metallic side:
Underoath - They’re Only Chasing Safety
Emery - The Question
Hopesfall - The Frailty of Words

You’ve gotta flip it. Of course if you just leave it in the microwave for 2 minutes it’s going to cook uneven.

MtFtM here. You’ll probably never be happy masculinizing yourself. The original problem is that your self identity is fundamentally incompatible with being a stereotypical man.
If you are to live as a male, and I’m not suggesting you do, you’ll likely be quite a feminine guy still. After some years I have gotten comfortable with some of my masculine traits (stubble and body type) but I express myself in a very fluid way, I love having long hair, I still wear makeup when I want to dress up and I wear whatever feels comfortable to me that day. Like you, I hated the pressures, both internal and external, that were on me during my binary transition, but I still needed the freedom of expression. I have a hard time fitting in with most cishet men still because I’m just not like them, as a male or female.
This is a very important and difficult decision. Take your time, try not to make any more rash decisions, and do what will make you happiest, whether that is a healthier way of being on this path or retransitioning. That happiness probably won’t be found by forcing yourself into the stereotypical male mold though, you have to accept yourself as you are, however that is.

Ivy - Disappointed
Team Sleep - Ataraxia
Garbage - Deadwood

Pornography is the album you were expecting from them

Falling Up is the obvious one to me.
Their first album Crashings is more Linkin Park-ish, but it’s also amateurish. Their second album, Dawn Escapes, is probably what you want. I’ve said for a while that its vibe is 100% male-led Evanescence, and it’s a very well written and produced album. Highly recommended.
And according to myself and most others, Falling Up are one of those bands that only get better as they go on. They eventually lighten their sound and amp up the artsy, progressive elements. So they’ve got a great discography to chew on if you end up liking Dawn Escapes.

My favorite is Lightbulb Sun. It’s probably Wilson’s most personal album and most melodic album. It resonates with me very strongly. Deadwing is a close second.

The anecdotally, the audience’s energy completely died at my show when they played Splash Turn Twist. I’m not surprised they’d want to replace it with a song that gets a better crowd response.

Happier Than Ever and Futuresex/Lovesounds are great albums. 1989 and The Lady Killer are pretty good too.

Your Dad has the best taste, all bangers all the way down. Your Mom also has good taste and your Grandma surprised me at how many newer picks she has, good on you for keeping up with the times Grams.
You have pretty good taste overall but you lost me instantly at Swans

So these songs you’ve picked aren’t really all that Gothic, they’re more Alternative Metal. There are some Goth-adjacent bands like Evanescence, VAST and HIM that occasionally play to similar territory, but overall this sound isn’t really Goth. If you want stuff similar to this, you’ll probably get on better with 2000’s Alternative Metal bands like Chevelle, 10 Years and TrustCompany.
If you do want to get into Goth for real, I think Type O Negative is your best bet. Listen to Love You To Death, it’s a great entry point.

Dude, few moments in life have ever put a grin on my face like the opening riff of Clarity kicking off their set earlier this year. They absolutely killed it.

I love Rockstar, but in comparison to Clarity a 6.7 seems deserved

10/10. This song right here, wow. If I had to show a person one Jimmy Eat World song I thought would turn them into a fan, it’s this one. Jim’s best vocal performance ever, so raw and emotional. The instrumentation and sound production is earth shattering. Also, just ridiculously catchy. Probably the best Emo-Pop song ever written, in melody, riffs and lyrics.

Lol. I remember thinking the same thing about the music you’re referring to, that’s it’s so bland & lifeless, and that the music ten years before that was so much better. It’s just the nostalgia cycle man.

9/10. Probably Tom’s best song.

10/10. Jimmy Eat World’s most beautiful song.

I love TØP but they’re not Emo. They have emotionally charged lyrics and vocals that many Emo fans would probably connect with but instrumentally there’s no Emo influences.
