I want to see the reasoning traces of that poor model.

WhoRoger

I was referring to the old saying "if you're asking how much, you can't afford it".

WhoRoger

It's really both. Reddit subs by far aren't the only places where AI gets hate. Even the Linux kernel people keep debating whether to allow AI or not. Torvalds had to put a stop to such discussions twice already.

Lots of coders are great but there's definitely a ton of elitist jerks too. Now that everyone can make their own apps, they really scream the most about their precious gate-kept places.

WhoRoger

Open source, of all things, should be open to everyone. But it shows that in reality, it's a den of jerks rubbing their egos that they can code and you can't.

Remember, all those critical bugs in php and other open source software that've been ravaging the security everywhere, were written by these humans. All of them.

That said, a rule about promoting only projects that have existed for at least a year, kinda makes sense. The AI ban is just their insecurity.

WhoRoger

Yea BDSM is a kink but not all kinks involve sub/dom dynamics or safety issues or other aspects specific to SM.

WhoRoger

Why is everyone acting like kink is a synonym for BDSM

WhoRoger

I also don't get how you could set up a camera so that it captures skin tones as bright green? I know films of the time were more finicky, but how could that even happen unless the film was bad or the lighting literally green?

WhoRoger

You hear pretty often cost of e.g. pricey phones or tech to be referred to as 15.99 instead of "one fucking thousand and an extra ridiculous six hundred".

Just further entshitification, normalising the language so the consumer just consumes without thinking

WhoRoger

If someone wants to know the cost of wine, you can be sure they don't want a 3k+ bottle

I keep hearing that Saturn is technically more powerful, but I don't think that comparison even makes sense. More powerful in what? These two architectures are so different there isn't even much to compare. Maybe op/s of the main cpu, but game consoles of that era weren't exactly made to run math programs so that didn't matter. Saturn was made for 2D games and even that was a nightmare to manage because of the disjointed architecture. For anything else, the arch was woefully inefficient even before the development headaches came into it.

Sega thought they can just stitch some powerful processors together with spit and duct tape, but it just doesn't work that way. The funniest part is that Sega learned their lesson and made the Dreamcast, which even a monkey could make games for, while Sony then did a 180 and made pretty much a Saturn 2 with the PS3.

WhoRoger

Saturn building everything out of deformed quads is the funniest thing in graphics since the Vectrex.

It's ridiculous but I so respect making 3D that way. Imagine designing a 2D console for beatemups and platformers, and suddenly as you're almost done, boom, 3D is this new big thing all of a sudden. Now what, ditch it and make a new console from scratch? Eh fuck it, just do square polygons since the hardware does all the 2D transformation already anyway.

Honestly, amazing that anyone even tried to make any 3D for that crazy thing. So many strait jackets must have gotten used.

Also: Shoutout to NDS for making devs go through the same bullshit a decade later.

Different languages have different word order. The topic here is English, and applying it directly to other languages isn't really valid. Vice versa too.

Other languages have their own politically correct phrases for various things.

WhoRoger

I understand the idea, but road to hell is paved with good intentions. The question is whether it actually changes anything, or just makes people coming up with these new designations feel good about themselves. Will this help homeless people find homes? Or does it just sanitise the condition?

And also, like I said, some prefer the old-school naming for themselves.

WhoRoger

The 'person with/of X' language is silly, you just shuffle the words around but at the end still just define the person by the one trait and that's it.

I suppose maybe the difference is whether the person has no agency over their situation, or if they may want to own it as a trait. But even then, it depends on who prefers what. I've seen people with disabilities prefer that term, while people of color, or with autism etc tend to think saying it like that dumb.

And homeless/unhoused/whatevs people have other problems to worry about than what the language police calls them.

WhoRoger

Computers in the SW universe don't work like our software. I don't think people even write code, they build hardware circuits and give them memory. Everything is a neural network.

If you wanted to give astromech speech, maybe it would require a completely separate brain which would then fight with the technical one. It makes more sense to put it in a separate droid to do other things.

Aaand yea where is the line between sentience and mimicry? Got a good definition beyond "I'm feeling sentient"?

WhoRoger

What's awful about it? Not everyone wants just blank walls.

WhoRoger

I think there were some Ace models around 1B... One for math, which actually works well for math, but also some coding variants I think?

And DavidAU has 4x0.6B MoE which I think is optimised for coding but it's a teeny tiny model, so it can ace certain benchmarks but isn't useful for real tasks.

It's been a while since I was looking at these.

WhoRoger

There are lots of small models on HF that are like that. That's what it is, tiny experiments/projects. They aren't very useful in the real world.

Teaching the model extra languages, be it human or programming, doesn't take much. Getting them to understand the core concepts and having the breadth of knowledge is the issue.

OOP's guy literally after first sex: "I didn't feel anything"

Reddit: He's a manipulator who'll force you going raw and escalate his abuse once you have a kid

Frankly, condoms feel so terrible that they make the whole experience lose the entire point. I'd rather fuck with a strap-on, at least in that case I don't have to pretend anything and don't have to worry to keep it up in that hellish sleeve.

Maybe some guys don't mind as much, maybe for some there are condoms that work. And sure, some are better than others, different sizes, thinness, materials etc., but it's always like washing your hands in gloves. It misses the entire point.

With my last partner we were using spermicide gel. Maybe we were lucky with that one, idk. Other than that, honestly I'm fine with petting and playing, but that's probably not for everyone.

WhoRoger

Holy shit, everyone immediately going for manipulation and baby trap angle.

And people wonder why relationships are dying.

WhoRoger

Not this car, but this engine. AM Valkyrie races with V12 and is very popular because of that. The other cars have hybrids. WEC hypercars use varied approaches, because the regs are more loose, but clamped by balance of performance.

Look at WEC on YT, lots of videos about the sound of that car.

Ed: looking at the vid on a bigger screen, yea this is pretty much a topless Valkyrie, so it's close to being the same car actually.

WhoRoger

Yep we definitely need a TV show out of this comic. GoFundMe this before the apocalypse!
