I use an atom pack with DCF liner. In the worst conditions I put another pack cover over that (from an old pack), and normally a basha over the top of me and the pack together.

4 layers of rain protection between rain and the dry kit has never caused me a problem.

New Forest is a brilliant wild camping destination assuming you keep it lowkey – no fires etc

WildGeorgeKnight

Would love to read your query! Congrats 🧡

WildGeorgeKnight

Hunter and gather 🤷🏻‍♂️

Seems like MRT did a great job. Regardless of the risks of access to nature, I believe experiences like this have a lot to offer young people – hopefully not quite to this severity most of the time. I’m sure mountain rescue were glad to be there to walk them down safely.

I booked a running retreat with my first ever royalties 🏃

If you’re not weird you’re weird.

I think these look more normal to me now than any high heeled Tevas etc

WildGeorgeKnight

Don’t worry about it just post.

Portrait posts (as opposed to horizontal) last longer on the feed for next time.

I recorded my own audiobook for my non-fiction book Beyond Domestication.

Obviously the fact it’s non-fiction makes it feel like a much safer project, but the whole experience left me feeling like I would record my fiction books too.

Best advice is to buy a decent mic. I’ve got a Shure MV7.

I also have a background in sound engineering which definitely helped and I planned to mix it all myself. But a friend convinced me to use adobes podcast AI app to mix my audio and it’s flawless straight away.

So I ended up giving the raw audio from the mic to that app and then made the audiobook from those files.

You can do it! Give me a shout if you have nah questions.

Who doesn’t like sleeping in their clothes anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve wild camped the mourne mountains, but weather kept us from that summit twice now!

Congrats on your three peaks. Great tent pic too 🏕️

Cannot wait! Eryri was stunning in Winter.

The thirty minute timer was the way to go for me. I write for 30 mins everyday and have written 200k words in a year.

Pause the timer if you get interrupted!

I’m reading Because I Killed Him by Edith Birde. Present tense romantasy.

Mere by Danielle Giles another present tense and maybe your best fit off the top of my head. This felt like a book that would’ve been past tense if it had been written a decade ago. But I liked it as present tense.

You done did your 10,000 hours

It took me writing three novels in mostly first person (some framing took place in third for two of novels), for it to finally click why third person is so popular and effective.

During my last two novels I’ve found my voice getting caught or slowed down by the need to keep it in the pov characters voice. Third would have given me much more freedom

I’ve been trying to worldbuild properly on the third or fourth edit. If I can’t get the plot or chars right my worldbuilding can’t carry it.

WildGeorgeKnight

Me too. Gone off them. Went a bit too hard.

Rolls along. The magic system is genius.

Moved to Eryri last year and did this one in May. A proper banger!

Any other Snowdonia camps you recommend?

I remember seeing your beautiful cover before, glad you are taking off. I’ll add you to my want to read.

Someone flew from Canada to the UK and came to see me after reading my first book Beyond Domestication (non-fiction nature reconnection). Still blows my mind!

WildGeorgeKnight

None of this bugs me but the more I write the more I’m drawn to considering something like scrivener.

Having to write when offline in Apple notes isn’t something I love doing.

I have my indents as a style sheet. Works for me. But I set it up on computer im pretty sure.
