Most training days I really felt lethargic, and never felt like riding for the first 3 or 4 miles.

It’s fine, cull the weaklings mercilessly.

Not an expert, and flower images are needed to accurately determine what some of these are, but here are some pretty good guesses.

3 is a Cereus forbesii monstrose, “Ming Thing”

4 is a Pachycereus Marginatus, aka Mexican Fencepost Cactus

5 is a Gymnocalycium. It resembles my G. mesopotamicum, but there are a lot of Gymnos out there.

6 looks vaguely like a Myrtillocactus geometrizans, but young columnar cactus are hard to identify.

I hear various theories about heat. Some folks think that letting the temperatures cycle daily causes the seed coat to absorb moisture as they cool down, but they’ll germinate fine with steady heat too. One thing you don’t want to do is run them too hot, so consider getting a thermostatic control for the pad, and sticking the probe in a container of mix like the ones you’re using.

Overall, SP seeds are generally pretty forgiving — I’ve germinated them on my kitchen counter in a custard cup with a piece of wet paper towel in it.

What did the seller have to say about their condition?

Wiley_Jack

Looks like PC, but pups tend to take on a very ‘swole’ look, making it really hard to tell until it settles into a regular sustained period of growth. Either way it will make good graft stock.

I can’t really see any disease going on here. That could just be what variegated cactus epidermis does when it’s drying out.

Maybe reduce the intensity of the light a little?

Wiley_Jack

Yeah, that’s what it sounded like to me too.

I don’t think it’s missing a joint, it’s more a case of the joint becoming disconnected from the shaft.

So… the property line runs somewhere in the planting strip?

You said in your post that you can’t drill into the wall, then later in a reply you said you “can’t touch it”.

It’s OK if something you plant there touches it, right?

Imminent prolapse.

A fine, sharp spray of water might do the trick. Like the spray that you can coax out of one of those hose end shut-off valves.

How about something for the floor, like a big sheet of 4-mil with 2x4 borders?

Wiley_Jack

They make the trek to salt water in order to kill parasites.

What kind of a problem would it be to keep the garage at 40°?

Wiley_Jack

Young pups tend to be very vigorous and take on a more robust character than the rest of the cactus.

With a narrow track and round cross-section, it doesn’t take much to tip a minivan or SUV, and they just love to keep rolling.

Flitz is a metal polish.

Polishes are simply very fine abrasives.

Flitz is a very fine abrasive.

It also has cleaning and protective properties, which are ‘chemical things’, but it is still an abrasive.

Some weird, new field-sobriety test?

Wiley_Jack

Tow-er becomes tow-ee.

I was really expecting that car to end up in an irrigation canal.

Some riders might want to use a wider tire. I personally think a 45 is fine. Looks like a sweet bike.

Wiley_Jack

Apparently she went to nursing school.

Wiley_Jack

Nothing wrong with her that a few eighths of meth won’t fix.

Wiley_Jack

I’ve seen this exact thing happen to opuntia pads that I’ve cut and forgot to replant.

Is this plant outside? Is it getting direct sun and water?

What Kind Of Cereal ?
