OK fair point - I guess I just saw the screw & thought that was the floor plate.

Looks like a Remington 700 BDL ADL

As of August 2026 federal post offices are no longer prohibited per the DOJ.

I believe I qualify as an enthusiast…. Who if he had the budget would be obsessed. 🤷♀️

The Mozambique drill.

Vedder.

Stolen from elsewhere on the Innerwebtubies:
“How many guns does a normal person have?”
“About five.”
“That sounds like a gun enthusiast to me.”
“No, a gun enthusiast has fifteen.”
“That sounds like someone obsessed with guns.”
“No, people obsessed with guns have hundreds.”
“That sounds like a psycho.”
“No, psychos seldom own guns, or maybe have one or two.”
“But that sounds like a normal person though.”
“No, a normal person has about five. We already covered that.”

The reason for more hats is that’s what a real aircraft uses and the joystick manufacturers are trying to mimic a real controls it’s as simple as that.

CH Fighterstick by default has 24 individual inputs.
4 buttons, 3 (4) way hats {12 buttons} 1 (8) way hat.
And 3 axis (There's a throttle slider on the left side).
Only things it's missing as a "F-16" side stick are the paddle switch and 2 stage trigger.
WizardMelcar
Never heard of it.

To an extent I fell you; I’ve been using a CH Products setup for 25+ years.
I have the Fighterstick, the pro throttle & the pedals;
As well as the throttle quadrant & flight yoke.
- all still work great. But, they show their age. They’re only 8 bit controls. The Ch control manager is extremely finicky on Win 11.
That said, I got to use a buddy’s Virgil WarBRD-d with a Cougar stick over top;
It feels SO much better, especially with fine movements in the center.

Unless you’re using a “universal decapping die” you should clean the brass first.
The die that punches out the primer is also your sizing die.
Residue from shooting can scratch the inside of the die.
WizardMelcar
Ok that’s fair.
WizardMelcar
Unfortunately maybe not.
My father & I we’re having a 2nd Amendment discussion a couple years back at our deer shack.
He was in favor of banning “the AR-15 and weapons people do harm with”.
I pointed out the Austin clock tower shooting was committed utilizing a Remington 700. My father carries a Remington 700. When I asked if because a 700 was once used in a mass shooting it should be banned his response was “maybe it should!”

I’ve ordered from Raven Rocks before; I don’t believe it was 2nds. But overall a good experience.
WizardMelcar
Well it’s kinda subjective. In a 7.5 pound rifle 7mm08 produces 12-14 foot pounds of recoil.
308 would be 14-18.
But if your 7mm08 is a lighter gun vs the 308 that would cancel out. 🤷♀️

I do not recommend shooting your “junk”.

Slug or 00 buck at less than 50 - in a defensive situation- you bet your ass. (Did ya miss the key word “inside”?).
Besides the OP was a stupid hypothetical. “How can I train to defend against 8 people”? Answer you don’t - except through an overwhelming force multiplier.
8 people unarmed inside 20 feet could more than likely over power a single person armed with a gun. At that close range especially a long gun. Though you’d likely lose a few in the process.
WizardMelcar
Gun-fu.
Ar-15 with 30 round magazine. Especially if you have distance. Like 100 yards. Inside 50 yards the semi auto shotgun is king.
WizardMelcar
well then - good luck - Happy shooting.

Under the hood they're going to be a bit different - the 10/22 is straight blowback - the bolt is held closed only by spring tension.
The Model 100 is short stroke gas piston.
--- RECALL Warning ----
In 1990, Winchester issued a recall for this rifle due to a tendency for the firing pin to break due to metal fatigue, and become lodged in the breech bolt face, causing the rifle to fire with the action not fully locked, leading to possible catastrophic failure and risk of severe injury or death to the shooter. Winchester offered to do repairs on the gun free of charge

I don't know if free repair is still a thing, but watch out for the firing pin breakage. Might be wise to try and find a new firing pin immediately anyway.

So I use a CH setup and the CH software does work on Win11, with some caveats. It seems like there's a service or driver that loads after startup. If you start your computer launch ch control manager and immediately attempt a download that download will fail, the controllers will go non-responsive until reboot.
If I wait several minutes after the Windows restart before launching CH control manager, I can program or download my controllers without issue. (if sitting in front of the computer you may hear the Windows "ba-ding" when a driver loads - after that point CH manager should run without issue).
This issue does not seem to effect CMstart - so if you have your profile configured, you can set it to run on the CMstart and it should download near immediately to your controllers upon a reboot of windows.
Been using CH stuff for 25 years now - I have Pro-Throttle, Pro Pedals & Fighterstick

Wherever comfortable. 🤷♀️
So yeah, that looks about right to get a cheekweld.
Just have to manually adjust when at close range.
