With Republicans having control of the state government forever, you’d think everything would be fixed by now. I hold never get unemployment benefits when I was laid off a few years ago because some attempted fraud to collect benefits under my name. After I got a fraud case opened, I could never get it settled or closed. And then when I finally needed the benefits, I couldn’t file unemployment because of an open fraud case.
Luckily, I landed a job a few weeks later but that could have been catastrophic. I have no doubt that fraud case is still open after four years.

Former IT. We don’t care. Those items are consumables. Nobody wants them back.

But things are much more efficient now that the Republicans are in charge.

You aren’t resigning. Your employer has effectively eliminated your position. They should be providing YOU with paperwork.

My wife is attending a funeral today. She told me she was having a difficult time finding a substitute. I told her that’s her school district’s problem. Problem was solved somehow by administration.

Depending which city, if you plead not guilty and refuse all offers to settle, some prosecutors will just drop the charge in the “interest of justice”. The fact is, they don’t want to pull an officer off of the street for the time it takes to process this for trial nor do they want to use resources to prosecute. I know this was true for Fort Worth when I lived there.

I thought it was a me issue. I had to charge 100% last night for a trip today. I don’t know what I did but I was finally able to change it in the app. Good luck.

Heck, sometimes day before isn’t good enough. We had a cruise booked out of Fort Lauderdale summer of 2024. There was severe flooding for a couple of days so countless flights were cancelled. People on FB cruise page were struggling to get to FLL with many driving and flying to alternate airports when their flights were delayed or cancelled even up to embarkation day. Even scheduled to arrive two days early I saw many flights getting canceled and the airline emailing indicating more cancellations and delays were forthcoming. I ended up booking an alternate, refundable flight to Orlando in case our flight was canceled. While you never know, I will never travel for a same day cruise.

Not all of Rockwall County is Rockwall ISD. That would account for the drop you’re referencing.

To your point, if I can get to the location that has electricity, then I can charge. If you need a gas can to get gasoline, you’d still need to be transported there (or go for a long walk). Most outages are not for prolonged periods of time. In the case of the hurricane we went through, the whole city was out. No one was getting gasoline or charging an EV. You only had what was in your vehicle before the storm.

My cousin asked what I would do if the power went out. With a smirk, he asked, “How will you charge it?” I asked him how he thought he would get gasoline out of a gas pump without electricity. The look on his face was priceless.

I went on to ask him if he remembered when the last hurricane came through and no one could put fuel in their vehicle because there was no electricity. He just shrugged and said, “Yeah, you have a point.”

I took my Series 6 SS in on July 15th for battery replacement. I was told by Apple Store associate that it would take 5-7 business days to be delivered back to me. No mention of refurb. I called Apple Care a couple of times after three weeks and learned about the refurb and that they had no replacements available for a while. I escalated and received an email response reiterating the same. I asked for a return of my original device. I was then offered a Series 10 Titanium as a replacement. I took that offer in a heartbeat.

Years ago, I was so broke I scrounged for change so that I could buy a 99¢ hamburger. Later, I made my way to the mall where someone had thrown a movie theater ticket stub on the ground. I picked it up and walked into the movie theater and held up the stub to the usher and went in to enjoy a free movie. Fast forward to today and I took my wife, son, and mother-in-law to a fine dining restaurant for Mother’s Day. Fortunes change. I’m not wealthy but I’m rich in so many other ways. Keep your head up and keep plugging away.

I worked in a wireless carrier call center for a year and a half. Probably the worst role I ever had. I went to work for a different telecom corporate role fifteen years later. The unionized call center workers went on strike and non-unionized employees had to take on those jobs. I got assigned to strike duty a few weeks later (3 months with the company at that point). I told my manager I wasn’t going to do call center work because that’s not what I was hired for. He said, “But you have to do it.” I very calmly explained to him that I didn’t have to do anything. He just said to do him a favor and drop off my laptop on the day I was scheduled to start training (zero tolerance for strike duty avoidance). I just told him not to worry. I would complete all of my training (like 2-3 weeks) and then quit. He just shrugged his shoulders and said okay.

The strike was called on my last day of training but I would still have one day of call taking before the strikers were back to work. I figured I could do one day. I took the first call and got yelled and cussed at. The caller told me not to transfer her as she had been transferred several times. I put her on hold, transferred her, and then logged out. I walked around the building the rest of the day. The next day I was back on my regular job.

Eff call center work. Mad respect to those that do it long term.

Lord. I’ve never had a vehicle app before Ford so I don’t know any better. My wife leased an Acura ZDX in February. That app sucks absolute ass. Count your blessings.

Can you look at your key fob and see what percentage your car is charged to? Or use the locate your vehicle function if you let someone else borrow it?

My wife is very happy with her Acura ZDX (aka Honda Prologue, Chevy Blazer, Cadillac Lyriq). She’s been given an Acura MDX while she has some minor warranty work done and she can’t wait to get back to her ZDX.

I test drove a Platinum Antimatter but I wanted a Flash due to cost considerations. My wife and son both told me to get the Antimatter but the dealership only had the Flash in Carbonized Grey and other dealerships had no Lightings in stock. I was good with grey but, damn, if I’m not second-guessing myself. I love that Antimatter Blue color the more I see it.

Lord, I used to be in charge of cell phones for a large company. The sense of entitlement was just as great as device envy. I kept a bunch of used spares for folks whose devices were “broken”. I had one guy send three of these devices back saying the screens were cracked. They weren’t cracked when I sent them. The last one I sent I had my director watch me package the device. I sent an email to the D-Bag that the replacement was on the way and that our IT Director handled the device and packaging himself and took photos to ensure a quality delivery. Didn’t hear back that time.

Insurance will be higher no matter which new vehicle you get. To be honest, we had an increase with the same vehicles. My wife loved her 8 year old CR-V and wasn’t looking to get a new vehicle. I just couldn’t let the lease deal go when I saw it. She has had the car three weeks now and has told me a half dozen times how much she loves it.
