It's less about what's possible and more about what's feasible from a long-term maintenance perspective. What's the maintenance plan for this rust rewrite?
Xacius
I'd at least recommend swapping out prettier with eslint-plugin-oxfmt. It's much faster and will set you up for migrating in the future.

Bad bot

You need a name for the mech. Bolt is a great name for the cat. Could also take a banjo kazooie approach and nix the "and".

For me it was frostpunk 2

That lot are fucking clueless

I've heard the opposite from other women. Your experiences don't invalidate theirs.

This looks like AI slop advertising packaged inside a shitty story. Fuck off

All into the ass

I think you have the right attitude. It sounds like you did everything you could to voice your concerns. A lot of devs make the mistake of basing their emotions and self-worth off of work. It's an easy mistake to make when it's their main source of income and/or they're extremely passionate about the work.
Sometimes you have to let the bus crash. In this situation, I don't think there's anything else you can do.
Xacius
That is a horrible take. What happens when the system becomes so convoluted that the AI can't even keep up? These LLMs have a context limit. The more you scale, the worse it gets. Then you have a system that nothing understands.

I have experienced the same issue recently :/

It's almost like they're an IDE / dev tooling company.

I'm primarily a Rust/TS dev and it's exactly the opposite for me. Performance is awful on large codebases, particularly with WSL2
Xacius
You can get pretty far with electron. Their performance is night and day better than anyrhing jetbrains has cooked up recently.

Holy cringe

Depends. There's something to be said for having the same language on both your frontend and backend. TypeScript gives decent enough DX for most of my day to day work.

I am full remote with high visibility. My home office beats the one at work, 5k+ setup: 5gig fiber, custom desk + 2k chair. I work when I want to (typically 9-5, + 8-12).
I get to see my little girl every day. That matters the most to me. No commute = more time with my ladies.
I wouldn't have it any other way.

This is ✨AI slop✨
Xacius
I agree with your points. I think SolidJS addresses most of these concerns.

It's decent, but I've found that even SOTA models make the mistake of testing implementation details or adding unnecessary mocks. Perhaps this is mostly a frontend issue, but even with strict skills and guidance it usually fucks up. It only succeeds when I give it already working examples to adapt from. We're not doing anything crazy either. Vitest browser mode, React.
Stop mocking getBoundingClientRect() you fucking numpty. Don't even use it, test the behavior instead like you've been instructed to.
Xacius
Even worse when you consider an index fund. The S&P500 historical CAGR is 10%. Sit on that, reinvest dividends. ez money.
But this is a fucking casino, ok?
Xacius
Good. Maybe they'll put more effort into fixing their dumpster fire of a tech stack.
Xacius
For your responsibilities, you could easily be making double that elsewhere. If not triple
I could also see c) mild success which leads them to justify their choices ala Dunning Kruger. Be cautious of this.
