Is that a hot bin?

YamRepresentative397

OP where are you based? Steroid injections are great but in the early stages of a keloid, maybr the steroid plasters will be better.

YamRepresentative397

Yes and yes

I'm not going to read ALL the comments here as I have my own similar experience, however I am a guy. I had a hernia around 20 years ago and surgery left me with a scar and at the bottom of the scar was a keloid lump. I used to het this injected with steroids that kept it from growing and causing an issue. I have another keloid in the middle of my chest from an ingrown hair and two on both sides of my jaw, but I used to get one side injected as one side was more of a problem, along with my chest and pubis area from the hernia scar. An ingrown hair in my pubis caused a small bump and I attempted to "counter" growth by getting it injected that reversed and grew really big and merged with the other keloid from my hernia scar. I used the get all of these injected (not the last pubis keloid) until 2020 when everything changed and injects were getting farther apart from each other leading them to all grow (apart from my jaw, sort of) and leading the pubis one to merge and causing discomfort and stress whilst the one on my chest pokes out and is visible through clothing.

Ultimately I have gone for surgery because having gone to two separate specialists and getting a second opinion, surgery and radiotherapy is al I have left as the injections are not as frequent as they should be, steroid tape will not or is not likely to work at the age of the keloids especially as they keep bleeding and itching and sometimes getting infected.

Yesterday I went under, they excision the keloid pubis and I woke up in a little pain which has now passed after taking some drug and i cleaned the area around the bandage. Today I got my radiotherapy as it needed to be within 48hrs of the surgery.

I was really concerned about my reproductive organs so I seemed advise from an oncologist and he assured me that if I developed skin cancer it would be treatable but any other cancer is 1 in a thousand and in possibly 30-40 years down the line so I took risk.

MY ADVICE TO YOU: Get opinions. Second. Third...fourth if you have to. But keloids are defintely 50/50. I will definitely suggest regular 4-6 weeks of infections as THAT will definitely manage and even stop keloids from growing after a while with liveable side effects. If injections are NOT your thing, I'd brave it and go for the surgery and radiotherapy...but as I am currently going through the latter, cannot praise it just yet, but my keloid is gone and it was a tearful moment. And the surgery didnt hurt as I was asleep.

I just had surgery today....well 16th and I'm getting radiotherapy. Not where you have yours though.

Personally, I'd suggest regular injections to control it. But until this surgery and radiotherapy is complete along with follow up injections anf maybe steroid tape, I can only state that injections are best. Tape may not work if keloids are too far gone.

Anywhere there is hair is a factor i feel

YamRepresentative397

Good to know, I have one, only one from when I went to the States last year and my scars keep either getting infected, but are also bleeding, so I'll apply.

YamRepresentative397

What is the bacitracin meant to do?

YamRepresentative397

The silicone scar sheets/tape was annoying to me but I would gladly try it if I had unlimited supply and a stronger formula.

My dermatologist said the once the scar gets to a certain age, the tape would not work. I think injections are the best as long as they are consistent

With this said, ivr not sued my pressure options like a coin because of where mines are, but I have tried other methods and trying to keep them hydrated. I am not going for radiotherapy. I've tried gels, oils, and steroid tape but everything I come in here, this eclar tape sounds like the truth.

YamRepresentative397

Pressure is needed to help keep the keloid down.

The one that was on your face looks like the on i have in the middle of my chest. I have another which is 3 to 4 times the size of that one on my lower abdomen.

The one on my cheek like yours never got as big as that but all of them were being injected.

YamRepresentative397

Sometimes hairs grow through a keloid, that is common.

YamRepresentative397

I would have said Max Payne, but if remastered then MP

YamRepresentative397

RDR and GTA

YamRepresentative397

Bacon & Eggs

YamRepresentative397

What do you know about radiotherapy?

Also, injections can hurt a bit, but if consistent, works very well.

YamRepresentative397

Yeah, im London based. I'm waiting to get my next shot, but I got a letter from a private doc to find a specialist and give it to them. In the meantime, im trying to manage it.

YamRepresentative397

If you do not mind me asking, which area of the UK?

Also, I've been dealing with my Keloids for over 10 years. The pandemic threw a massive spanner in the works, and my injections are not as consistent, and my keloids are growing wildly now.

I have a keloid from surgery that seems to be at a slow and steady pace (if it is still growing), but then inhad a tiny one i tried to Prevent growing by giving it an injection and now it is much bigger than my initial keloid near it that it has now merged with it. And smaller keloids are building up within the area. It is depressing if im honest

YamRepresentative397

It sucks when you are younger and have a baby face. When you are older, it's like a golden ticket!!

YamRepresentative397

Winning!

YamRepresentative397

Yeah, that haircut isn't helping ya kid! Maybe see what haircuts those the age you are have and go from there. It sucks to have a baby face, but enjoy the youngness while it lasts because before you know it, you are going to remember wishing to look order when you are wanting to look younger

YamRepresentative397

I feel the support for keloids is poor on the NHS

YamRepresentative397

No, thank you. I've been dealing with this for 10 years or so, but in the last 4 years, my scars have grown so big they are starting to depress me. But that is also because my regular treatment started to become irregular, from 6-8 weeks to several months. The NHS is not helping me to maintain and control it like how they used to,so now I'm trying to seek a private dermatologist for black skin.

The eclar tape i mentioned earlier, we have something similar, but. I'm going to look for and try that, too.

YamRepresentative397

Im in the UK. I'll look out for it!
