There's a lot of things about this game that are unfortunately frustrating, but nothing compares to losing because the social panel decides to make an unscheduled cameo.

Ask my squad mates how many times this has happened to me.

You mention that your regular squad is good and I suspect that's part of the issue with targeting. The better players will know who the competition is based on how you play throughout the show, and they'll often target you in the semifinals to make for a better chance at winning the final.

I know it doesn't make being targeted any less frustrating, and it is an unfortunate design flaw, but hey, at least your good enough to warrant attention.
