iOS 16 introduces RoomPlan which is an API used for quick room scanning, it would be ideal for this case.

You can pull them up. They settle there by default to not obscure the wallpaper. A toggle between the old style and new would be nice tho.

If power is really a premium I recommend switching to port charging ASAP. Wireless charging wastes roughly half the energy into heat. Wired charging is way more efficient.
