These look great. Thanks

Okay the riddle has been solved. It’s a combo of a slight zipper imperfection and the fact I have a metal ankle. But it’s okay I wet molded them and they look normal now.

Swear if any of my detractors on this post were in charge of society we'd all still be living in the mud and there would be no culture.

cheef, I have carbon plate road shoes (rapha). Like I said above, these with have flex.

Zestyclose_Advisor63

When did i erect a straw man? You distorted my position implying I was making a universal claim about style having cross cultural validity with your little old man young women thing, like DUH people have different taste.

I also don't think the fashion is disproportionately opposed to performance either. Boa lacing systems look sick when used properly. Rigid sole and the right tread are easy. Shaping and material creativity is the issue here.

DUDE, Straw man??? U are the one constructing a straw man! (lol)I am not creating a universalized platonic ideal of what is aesthetically appealing through any truth making procedure. I am making a personal judgement, like Camus or Nietzsche, that mtb shoes have no style. Pretty much everyone including you and the haters agree that mtb shoes are pretty ugly too. As someone who "likes fashion" wouldn't you want greater aesthetic choice in biking footwear. It seems like everyone is getting paranoid that one cannot escape aesthetic culture even in the woods, and that there is some violation in even asking this question.

there are very cheap carbon insoles for medical use! I think you are right there could be some stiffness loss because the softer rubber sole could act like a fulcrum for the plate to flex over. But I think that could help with absorption. A 3m highbond could be just fine enough for integration especially if it the insert really filled out the shape of the shoe. Im gonna go .5 size up on the insert and dremel down to fit whatever shoe I choose. If it works, I'll send you best practices.

why you in the strava subreddit

Wait i am confused. Im not saying that fashion isn't subjective, it is. But thats not what im talking about. His comment is obtuse because its like saying "language is subjective" in response to someone asking 'what do you think an author meant when he said "xyz".' Fashion, or a trend, is like a language because it communicates something to others. Stumpers comment ignores the underlying nuance of the post and paints aesthetic negotiation as a hermetically sealed loop with no purpose. If we only talked about objective things, we would just be trading snapple facts back and forth and we wouldnt have human culture.

It looks like your arms are pushing down as soon as your front tire leaves the lip, while your legs are static. You would do this if you were trying to roll a drop or begin pumping through a roller. But because you are trying to get air, your body is moving like its trying to make contact with something that isn't there.

Preloading for a hop is an option but maybe not the best to begin with. A hop and can make it feel like the bike is "sticking to your feet" but that feeling can wear off at the apex of your jumping curve if you don't begin to apply a small amount of pressure with your feet and arms that overcomes the force vectors of falling, rotating, going forward. You need to do this by just rolling, but the hop adds 1 extra variable.

My advice, Do what your doing already. Just a delay your arm push and follow that with foot push. Start with just rolling straight off the lip with an engaged body position. Roll off with your arms and legs bent between 50-75% with your butt just a little behind the neutral center (which it looks like you're already doing) Only after your back tire has left the lip should you start moving your body! With your arms and your legs start lightly pushing the bike down towards the ground. You don't want to lock your arms and legs out, just begin slowly extending them to keep pressure on the bars and pedals. When you land with only slightly bent arms and legs, you'll be ready to absorb any shock.

Soon you'll want to land with both your tires hitting the ground at the same time on your landing surface. If your rolling off a flat plane like this one in a straight line with no preload and an even distribution of weight, you're going to land at the same angle you left the lip with, flat. But then your landing flat on a slant thats your back tire hitting first and then your front. This isn't as stable as matching the landing surface angle with the angle of your bike. Dialing this is in will just be figuring out how much pressure goes in the arms and how much goes into the legs.

Maybe try doing this by starting to roll flat to flat, and then flat to slightly angled, until your able to match the pitch of your landing. Or just keep sending it off that guy in a more neutral position till you feel the control of the bike beneath your arms/legs and start matching those angles. Best of luck
