Friend, it's not that deep. 😭 The post literally says anything, and that includes the posts themselves.

Writing would fall under "anything that was predominantly produced with the help of generative AI," as stated in the OP. We are trying to gauge the general opinion here, which is quite broad.
_Guns
You can breathe easy! This is just an opinion poll. No enforcement changes or standards are being set here. Nothing is changing in enforcement any time soon. The discussion regarding where you would draw the line, exact definitions, exceptions, etc. are all things that can only happen after we've established a community consensus.
If it ever gets there, I imagine this would be a slow, gradual, likely several month community endeavor. All we're doing right now is just a check to see where the community stands in general.
_Guns
I must have missed it. Can you cite the body text where it implies it's mainly about artwork? I worded it very carefully to avoid any confusion:
For example, an asset pack of AI-generated art, or a tool whose presentation/code is primarily produced by AI.
And the poll itself has a description to make it extra clear:
This means anything predominantly produced with generative AI.
_Guns
The poll literally does not refer to artwork mainly, no.
_Guns
No distinction should be needed for what the poll gauges. You would be a "Yes, but [your condition]" vote, as stated in the OP.
_Guns
It's in the metadata.

Here's some feedback for you. I can't hear a single thing
said in the video! Voice is the left side there, music on the right. Most of the voice is at best -18 dBFS, at worst -30. The music is way louder. Should probably normalize the audio next time so people can actually hear you.

If you mean history specifically, pretty sure it's never been designed to persist in mind. That might have just been a coincidence on your part due to not closing/refreshing the window. It's been this way since always, as far as I can tell. Documentation says:
As you generate images multiple times, they will stay saved in the History tab to the right side of the screen, as long as you don’t end the session by leaving or refreshing the page.

Thank you for the welcome, happy to help the community out. :)

Your initiative is commendable. It is natural reaction to want to help others who have had similar issues, so that's no indictment of your character. From what I've read, the vast majority of users are not affected, but the loud minority is of course loud. Business-wise, NovelAI as a service is fine. Hopefully better solutions can be found in the future, but this is how it stands currently.
Feel free to reach out via mod mail if you need clarification on anything else in the future. :)

As a business, I'm sure they would prefer income. I sincerely doubt any business would intentionally shoot themselves in the foot and take a hit to their revenue. That is objectively a bad move. Staff have already said they apologize for the frustration it causes. And I would rather not have to answer these posts for the n-th time on both Discord and Reddit to smooth things over.
There are actually good reasons for why payment gets more restrictive like this. And mind you, this is global phenomenon. AI services in particular are considered high risk for payment processors. The general driver for this is going to be fraud, which leads to stricter controls and verification, which adversely affects some legitimate customers too.
If you have a "catch all fraud but let all the good customers in" solution, I'm all ears. Unfortunately, no such magic bullet exists. Such a solution would potentially make you a billionaire over night. Every processor, bank, and merchant on the planet wants this. Right now though it's in a rough spot.
As for why users can't post about it or request it publicly:
- Even if any support staff wanted to help, they can't. Personal support cannot be provided by moderators or Anlatan staff on a public platform. Personally identifiable information can't be exchanged via Reddit safely
- If you are running into a payment issue, there's nothing anyone here can do about it. Ordinary users cannot contact your bank or payment processors to mediate the issue. They also cannot identify the issue accurately or provide a solution. They are not trained in this matter.
- To make matters worse, their advice can cause adverse consequences, worsening the situation overall.
- Some users interpret this as official support, and share account information, PII, bank numbers, PINs, etc. Security nightmare and we're not willing to platform that risk.
So overall it's just a sucky situation. Contacting the official support via email remains the correct first step for help. Sorry that it feels like we're just shutting these things down randomly or whatever, but the alternative is basically anarchy lol.

Just wanted to clarify that offering payment help is also not allowed, but that the rule isn't clear about that. Sorry, it will be updated. Users offering this kind of help is understandable, but it reportedly causes even more problems for official support down the line.

A brief introduction and how long you have been part of or following this community.
I go by Guns. I'm not sure how long I have been part of the community, but I have been subscribed for at least 2 years. I mostly lurk though.
Why you are interested in becoming a moderator.
I'm interested in moderating the subreddit because I care about the community's experience. I want it to be a presentable and welcoming front for Unity users. I'm personally invested as a Unity user myself.
Any previous moderation or community-management experience you have. Experience is helpful, but not required.
Notably, I moderate r/NovelAI and r/GW2. Neither are particularly taxing in workload, but I have extensive experience setting up systems, rules, guidelines and working with others. I also moderate NovelAI's Discord, which has 56K members and an active community. I am active pretty much every day.
How you would approach disagreements, controversial posts, and discussions comparing Unity with other engines.
There's nothing to approach when it comes to disagreements. Disagreements are a natural part of any healthy community. There's rarely a need to stop cordial discussion where the parties hold opposing views. Controversial posts are rarely a problem as long as they don't clash too much with the community. Controversial doesn't imply there's a problem, just that it goes against community expectations. If a post is clearly rejected by the community, then that's a hint to reevaluate whether or not it belongs. If users discuss engine comparisons, which is normal for any ordinary game engine community, then I will do nothing.
Conflict is where moderators usually act, and do so with gradual escalation. I generally have not had any problems with this approach.
Any ideas you have for improving the subreddit or helping its members.
Automod setup, karma/account age filter, use safety filters if not already, make use of Automations to guide posts and comments, flair enforcing and revising, and definitely removing the gambling website link which is currently in the old Reddit sidebar.
For the long term, at least one community survey to gauge what they want, then adjust accordingly. This would affect rules, weekly activities, and which information to surface on the community's behalf.
Confirmation that you are comfortable enforcing the rules neutrally, working with the rest of the moderation team, and receiving feedback.
Yes, this describes what I have been doing actively for the past 5 years.
_Guns
Pretty and usable I think. I have one qualm though. The train moving left reads as backward to me. Progress bars, timelines, and scrubbers all advance left to right, so a loading animation moving right would match that mental model.
_Guns
Of course you can. Just needs to be relevant and decent quality.
_Guns
Changed the flair from content sharing to video, since you're not sharing it! I think these projects are cool to show off anyway, so no harm done.
Thank you to everyone who participated. The poll is now closed.
