Abuse can happen at all levels of society. Stop making this a Hollywood vs. everyone else or a liberal vs. conservative thing.

Trump said, "It's a small price to pay ... keeping our country safe" if Iran took out LA and San Diego.

"They can take out a city. Let 'em take out Los Angeles. Let 'em take out San Diego. That's a very small price to pay."

Even if he didn't mean it that way, announcing, "Let 'em take out (so-and-so city)," is crazy for any U.S. president to say on live TV.

It was a very high probability. From the Dune appendices:

Appendix III: Report on Bene Gesserit Motives and Purposes

The Lady Jessica was ordered to produce an Atreides daughter. The plan was to inbreed this daughter with Feyd- Rautha Harkonnen, a nephew of the Baron Vladimir, with the high probability of a Kwisatz Haderach from that union. Instead, for reasons she confesses have never been completely clear to her, the concubine Lady Jessica defied her orders and bore a son.

Surprise, surprise, surprise.

The last two books by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson don’t adhere to the themes of the original author. Daniel and Marty were advanced face dancers in the original story but Brian made them his own creations (i.e. Erasmus and Omnius) from the Butlerian Jihad series, so you have to read those to fully understand who they are.

In the original six books by Frank Herbert, the Golden Path was a success, ensuring that no single person or group could ever threaten the existence of all of humanity again. The events of Heretics and Chapterhouse are only happening to a small portion of all the people who exist in the universe. If the Bene Gesserit and other groups in the Old Empire were wiped out, it wouldn’t matter. The Honored Matres weren't a threat to all of humanity by that point. Even Daniel and Marty couldn't threaten everyone out in the Scattering.

This is why I think Frank shouldn't have written those last two books, because the struggle to ensure the Golden Path is over (it ended with Children or God Emperor, depending on whom you ask). Humanity's continued existence is secure.

I don't know if this will help, but here is a link to short chapter summaries and discussions of the Dune books. The link opens to the summary of the chapter in Messiah that you are talking about.

_Rookie_21

I don't think so. I think there will be elements from Children in Dune Part Three.

_Rookie_21

Watch out for this person. They've engaged me in very long "debates" in which they kept arguing their incorrect position until the thread was locked by the mods.

_Rookie_21

Leto isn't book-accurate. Neither is Shaddam. Duncan is iffy.

_Rookie_21

Can you cite where in the books it says the Scattering has failed, and that all of the people out there are coming back into the Old Empire? Are you going to not post any passages from the book to support your assertion and keep arguing your incorrect interpretations until another thread is locked again?

And how is that earlier citation incorrect? It's straight from the book. And we're only talking about Frank Herbert's books here.

_Rookie_21

I agree, although I don't think Heretics' ending was as effective an "offramp" as the other books. Maybe I'm wrong, since I haven't read that book in a very long time. Chapterhouse also needed a proper sequel IMO.

I think that was Norman Spinrad. However, Frank Herbert's original plan was to write one large book that included Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune, but they were split up due to length. God Emperor and the others came later.

Spinrad also said that Herbert wanted to end the Dune series with a fictional democracy ruling the remnants of the Old Empire. That would have been interesting, seeing as how he was anti-bureaucracy and distrusted "big government" and leaders with too much power.

Here is the link to the Spinrad interview he did with Jacurutu.com about 17 years ago. https://www.jacurutu.com/viewtopic.php?t=1112

Is your opinion popular in this sub and among hardcore Dune fans? No.

Is your opinion popular outside the sub and the fandom, among those who have read the Dune books and are casual fans? Yes.

Hopefully nothing past Part Three (Messiah + parts of Children), unless you want general audiences watching a giant worm man-god philosophizing and women enslaving men with their magic bussies.

But for the twins to work, they will need to be aged up to at least teenagers, which it sounds like Denis has done for Part Three.

_Rookie_21

I hope not.

No, the point of the prequels was to show how the Jedi weren't prepared for someone like Sidious.

I agree, but it also showed how the Jedi were wrong about emotions and weren't prepared to train someone like Anakin, someone whom they didn't raise from a toddler. It can be both of those at the same time, you know.

Yoda and Obi-Wan weren't wrong about Anakin; he was too far gone and murdered trillions. Vader himself told Luke it was too late for him.

Really? Luke believed there was still good in Anakin, that he could reach him when Obi-Wan and no one else could, and he was right. The Jedi don't understand love or the bonds of family.

I'm done. I think you're trolling me at this point by ignoring obvious themes that anyone who watched the PT and OT just once would see. Later

This fool is scared his court will be remembered as the most partisan in modern history and the one responsible for the erosion of norms. Eviscerating the Voting Rights Act is unconscionable. They are all right-wing judicial activists.

_Rookie_21

Not entirely true. He never saw the entire golden path. He says as much to Leto in children of Dune.

_Rookie_21

I've noticed this on other Reddit posts and actually other social media like Instagram. I think comments are being deleted or "hidden" due to complaints by victims or former co-conspirators.

_Rookie_21

Well, the kicker is it's a bit lazy and intellectually dishonest to label and smear people that way based on differences in opinion.

Nazism is a "difference of opinion"? Right-wing authoritarianism is a "difference of opinion?"

5) Brian and Kevin admitted that Omnius and Erasmus being Daniel and Marty was wholly their own idea, so we don't know what Frank was going to do with them other than they probably were independent Face Dancers.

Scott Brick interviews Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert:

SB: (paraphrasing; it's a long question) At what point did you realize that the old man and woman from CH:D were Omnius and Erasmus?

BH: Well, this is where ... Omnius and Erasmus are actually ... characters that Kevin and I created. They were not based on any notes that we found of Frank Herbert's at all. But we combined those two characters that we created, that we ... and, these are concepts, it was a story concept that we threaded in, knowing we were heading for Hunters of Dune and Sandworms. And we combined what we added ... our own concept to Frank Herbert's overview. And Frank Herbert's overview, then, is where we immersed these two characters.

If you’re having trouble keeping things straight while reading, you can look at the chapter summaries here: https://www.jacurutu.com/

The chapter summaries are at the bottom of the page under “reading group.” or you can just go here: https://www.jacurutu.com/viewforum.php?f=8

Then let's stop using terms that result in sweeping generalizations about young men, or that can be easily misconstrued that way. Let's stop engaging in or supporting memes and online campaigns that don't differentiate between toxic men and others.

Don't excuse bad behavior, of course, but make it clear that the Democratic Party has a place for young men and values them equally with women.
