1e-2 is a complete ass error rate.  If the error rate were a million times lower, you’d still need error correction on top for it to be useful for much of anything. If it were a billion times lower, it’d still be out of spec for pcie5.

The more they're running away, the less likely it is to be ethical.

I'm pretty sure I had roughly one half of one semester course on that sort of thing in my engineering degree.

Pretty much the only other common secured loans are car loans and mortgages, and I don't see any reason those shouldn't be treated the same way.

account312

Why shouldn't it? It's a means of realizing the value.

account312

No, treating collateralized loans as income would make it so that pretty much nobody could ever buy a house. Using stocks as collateral probably should be a taxable event though, triggering capital gains.

The 90s are over, man. Hardware isn't improving that quickly. And recently, you're more likely to pay three times as much to to replace what you had than to get something much better for the same price. Prices are nuts right now, and they're probably going up more for at least the next year.

Crash safety in new cars is significantly better than even twenty years ago, let alone 60.

account312

Wow, they couldn’t even put Bob the scene as an excuse?

It shouldn’t be legal to retain copyright and not actually release the work.

Don't forget beanie babies.

account312

But using them all willy' nilly is in the spirit of the 'sub.

Bro found a tax loophole so good even his grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren will be set for life. All he had to do was lose all his money and never make it back.

account312

It was reasonably common, but I'd say it's pretty dated at this point.

account312

That's Wile E.

200% would be an insanely low markup for a fountain drink. That's like a million percent marked up.

account312

Did they all get bought up by private equity firms there too?

account312

I don't think this power can be used for good.

account312

Does ServSafe even have rules about that? I feel like they shouldn't need to but...

account312

At least they’re no longer allowed to re-order your transactions to create more overdraft fees.

The median home price on more than half of states in the United States are under $400k.

That's a crazy statistic, since states don't have similar sizes or populations. If you want a reasonable statistic, look at the median home price in the US: about $410,000 down from $440k a few years ago, from what I'm seeing.

account312

He has always done that.

account312

They also have the most outlandishly terrible stuff.

In the 1560s the Mercator projection was developed, making navigating by map straightforward. A bit under 240 years later, the first manned hot air balloon flew. About 120 years later, the first airplane flew. About 60 years later, Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Naturally, 30 years later, we started the first colony on Mars.

account312

It does.
