Danni was definitely a hard watch. On one hand, she does seem neurodivergent, and as someone who is also neurodivergent I know how challenging it can be to try to navigate life/how to act/etc. but she was very clearly going for the over-the-top, “look how quirky I am!” schtick and it was so grating. There’s always at least one quirky/eccentric contestant but it’s usually very apparent when they’re trying to push it for the cameras (an example of a quirky contestant not trying to push it is Kim Joy- she’s genuinely quirky but was also quite reserved and quiet and was not in-your-face about it).

Ok, I’ll be honest- I think it’s weird. I’m all for extended breastfeeding if it works for parent and child, but I think this is part of the really intense attachment style parenting that TCB has, which is super weird in and of itself.

I live in Philly, came here for grad school 10 years ago and decided to stay. It’s a vibrant city with a unique character, has a great food and cultural scene (museums, concerts, exhibits, etc.), is incredibly racially and socioeconomically diverse, is much more affordable compared to the West Coast, DC, or NYC, and is full of young people in school, starting their careers, building lives and families. The access to the outdoors is actually pretty great for a city, we have one of the best urban parks in the country (Fairmount Park), decent hiking in Wissahickon Park/Forbidden Drive, and we’re about an hour from the beach (everyone calls it The Shore) and around an hour and a half from the Poconos which has more hiking/outdoor opportunities. It’s easy to get to NYC and DC within a couple of hours on the train.

The queer community as a whole, as well as the sapphic community in particular, are present and active. There’s sapphic mixers and events that happen regularly (Sip City Mixer), a lesbian bar (Val’s), and while it’s not exclusively sapphic, the women’s sports watch party (Stoop Pigeon/Watch Party PHL) is wlw-heavy and they’re opening up a women’s sports bar soon that’s going to be amazing if that’s something you’re into.

If you want to look more closely at neighborhoods, I’d recommend West Philly (specifically around Clark Park area- Spruce Hill, Cedar Park, Squirrel Hill on maps), South Philly (Passyunk, Queen Village, Bella Vista), Fishtown, or Northern Liberties. West Philly does sound like it might fit the vibe you’re looking for.

I actually work in suicide prevention research. Attention-seeking behavior is very common in suicidality and it does not mean that someone isn’t serious about their intentions. I think that Mychal has struggled with suicidal ideation for a long time, and I certainly hope he gets the help and support that he needs.
