Its not a bug, its a feature. At that scale, money doesnt mean the same thing it does to your or I. It is a symbol of a voting power, representation of confidence from the people that have in turn accumulated the most confidence from OTHER "successful", powerful people.

You couldn't even SPEND 4 trillion dollars without basically collapsing the entire world economy, yet that number represents the market share of nvidia. Why?

Because of the collective confidence in their technology as a society. Even the dumbass wall street bets investors that buy or hold just because share prices are going up, in some way, have a confidence that the share price will still go up.

People with real wealth aren't looking just to make money for moneys sake, the only thing you can even DO with that much money is invest it. If you invest in something that "benefits" society, or atleast, the people with the most voting powrr in that society($), you are rewarded with more money to pass around.

That's not financial fraud, that's literally the purpose of a digital, automated stock exchange.

It is gambling, putting your own money on the line predicting an outcome for a company, and the market cap of a company becomes a representation of how many people believe something can continue to grow.

The stock prices dont affect Nvidia's day to day operation, its a barometer that measures public confidence in the company.

When the AI bubble bursts, investors will lose money, institutions will lose money, and people may feel the strain that comes with any big societal shift, but its not like the entire foundation of the actual means of production goes anywhere when the stock market crashes. It just takes an uncomfortable pause, as the system tries to restablish itself and the work force finds employment again.

Running a mid range gaming pc creates about .24 ro .4 pounds of c02 on average. How many plastic straws worth of c02 do you think the average gamer uses in a weeks worth of playtime?

Im not saying this to shift blame on the consumer, merely to point out the absurdity of some of the changes we make in attempt to combat emissions.

Inb4 someone makes a point about microplastics, it is becoming more clear the biggest contributer of microplastixs is tires, producing dust as they roll down the road. Even if we all went wfh tomorrow, and only biked or doordashed from bikes, the microplastics from the shipping industry that got the food to your table and even from the tires of your bike would be signifigantly more than would be produced by the plastic straw.

If you run your dishwasher ONE time you didnt really need to, you've created more emissions that if you used a new disposable plastic bag to throw out your disposable plastic straw every day for 6 months.

Electricity is enviornmentally expensive, and we have grown very accustomed to the lifestyle that comes with consuming it, to the point we have no concept of how much we personally contribute without even blinking an eye.
