Yes, it will always be grindy. Sometimes less sometimes more. Some runs will take weeks. Good news is - you don't need to be glued to the screen, it works in background all the same.   

Also it is a very long game, it takes years.

For now your goal is to collect as much mastery through the achievements as you can. So more tags are better. Only thing you need actively avoid is Hellscape for non-demonic species.

So both Tundra and Volcanic are ok. Volcanic may have tougher time getting food and that's all. Unstable changes absolutely nothing for you, Trashed adds useless job, Kamikaze leads to shorter seasons but otherwise barely noticeable.

I see where confusion is. That Overlord achievements has nothing to do with resets. It is weird to consider it some kind of path since it is mostly a flair. You can achieve either Matrix or Retirement regardless what you pick. So thats only 2 kinds of TP4 still. TP1+TP2+TP3+2xTP4+LS=6

Heavy is probably the best option nowadays. Its downside can be remedied by perk from achievement but be advised that fuel costs in solar system and father are way worse than standard.

Evil and magic are second choice. Evil due to inconvenient authority mechanic and Magic for it's T3 reset being more like T3.5. But honestly, it's only marginal difference, so if you like the sound of being evil or sorcerer - go for it.

And distant 3rd place is Anti - it is way way way slower. Not recommend at all. 

Tier means a type of reset, Tier 1 to Tier 6 in order of time/complexity. I am not sure if it ever officially recognized - we just shorting them for convenience sake. There is also True Path resets: TP1 to TP4 but that's for later. So MAD is always T1 reset.

T2 - Bioseed

T3 - Black Hole/Vacuum Collapse

1. Export your game's save-string into Decode window, press Decode.

2. Ctrl+F: Phage - you want second result under 'prestige'. Change it into your desired phage number

3. On page press 'Copy to Encode' (or just copypaste result into Encode window) Press Encode.

4. Import new string into the game.

You can use save editor to add Phage back and optionally downgrade your minor traits.

Because they have vastly more meta resources speeding up the game. It is way too soon for you to start Andromeda runs and you probably wouldn't be able to reach the Spire in any reasonable time frame if ever.

So do a lot of T1-T2-T3 resets before setting to Andromeda and futher.

Honestly, I think you should have done TP3/TP4 first. Matter replicator and mimic are very good for this. Mitigates a lot of bottlenecks as well.

That said, you probably should stick to this for a bit and only do True Path before diving into OD 4*. For advice - switch government to Corpocracy for the money and to Socialism when you will need crafting materials. Media governor doing absolutely nothing, might as well switch to Sports or Soldier or even Criminal. You need to juggle population a lot to cover what you need at the particular moment

Make a save before researching Whaling and restore if something goes wrong.
