You are also missing the point that when the constitution was written there was no standing army. The militias they referred to were groups of men who could be called upon in times of need.

After we get through this mess (america) I think we should have mandatory military service and no deployable army. Meaning everyone should be trained to defend our nation and no one should have to fight in foreign wars.

In some countries everyone's military service is for life, it's just wether or not your called upon.
