Anyone else use KMC Perfect Fit Hard sleeves? (self.magicTCG) [General Discussion]

Just kidding. The epitome of that is people downvoting that comment.
Come on, internet. Life is good.
ambiguous57
People just dunking on it not being a Razr despite STILL being the most 2000s MTG pic ever is the epitome of “Are you not entertained?”
ambiguous57
Yours looks very similar to mine, but I can’t say how well it plays since this weekend will be my first time.
Blood for Bones is one really odd niche card you might want to look at.
It doesn’t actually target anything in the graveyard, so that’s one easy way to sac a transformed Sephiroth, bring him to your hand/battlefield AND bring back another creature.
ambiguous57
I got Jokulhaups when I was 12-13 and was so excited to have my first board wipe card.
And then I somehow lost it the very same day. Never have gotten around to buying a copy!
ambiguous57
In my experience, the general rule of thumb is to declare every single card you play. Then it’s on the rest of the table to ask questions if they need to. It’s not your job to prevent other people from making bad moves just because they lost track of the game state.
ambiguous57
Yeah I would say either buy singles, or do this. It’s a massive pool of cards from across a big chunk of Magic’s history and, at $200 a box, it’s kinda hard to NOT break even. And that’s not even taking the promos into account.
ambiguous57
Yep! That mentality drives me absolutely insane.
I honestly don’t know how much of a chance I have to win with my Edea deck: the entire thing depends upon making use of everyone else’s threats, not my own. That’s true even with the really big hitter spells like Insurrection. But you steal somebody’s creature for a single turn and everyone loses their mind! Bonus butthurtfulness points if you hit them with their own creature.
The last time I played the deck, some dude even countered the first time I cast Edea. I legitimately got a little bit salty haha. My philosophy with the deck is to goof off and make the game go faster: if the best creature on the board gets twice as many hits in, doesn’t everyone benefit? I, for one, love the idea of a game not dragging on for ages.
ambiguous57
I’ve built an Edea deck and it’s definitely a lot of fun.
One thing I would advise is to NOT bring in cards that enable her to permanently steal people’s creatures. I’ve found that, even though her mechanic lets people have their creature back even if it dies, some people get all bothered over the idea of you stealing their creatures at all. So if you bring in ways to make it permanent, you’re probably going to get hated off the table.
Otherwise, I’ve just gone the route of bringing in plenty of sac outlets so I can draw a lot.
ambiguous57
Is it, though? You’re talking about the white edges at the top of the card, right? Because I’ve been confused by this.
I ordered one, and it looked like that and the left border did too. I contacted the seller, they refunded me, I bought another and it was the exact same.
Browsing eBay just now, I see several that look like this, but the actual art on Gatherer doesn’t look like that. So I’m wondering if it’s some sort of widespread misprint.

If you aren’t determined to use that specific version of Urza, you may want to check out Urza, Chief Artificer. That adds another color option (black) and helps you focus a bit more on artifact creatures instead of just artifacts in general.
ambiguous57
I’m sure this was after casting Rise of the Dark Realms.
ambiguous57
Consult the Star Charts is a really good “draw” spell.
Insight Engine works very well as a poor man’s The One Ring.
I also like Lim-Dul’s vault a lot even if it’s not outright card draw.
ambiguous57
No, it means exactly what it says:
If you don’t like a thing, the simplest and only objectively meaningful way of communicating that is to not buy it.
It doesn’t have to mean, “And everyone who disagrees with me is wrong and a pig who likes slop.”
ambiguous57
I actually lost a match to this card on prerelease day. Dude’s deck was not very good at all, but he played this, landed his three best creatures in the entire deck, and took me from 17-18 life to 0 in one turn. I couldn’t even be mad.
ambiguous57
Meant to respond here a long time ago and overlooked it.
I forget exactly what all I cut out, but I cut most of the bigger creatures that can’t be brought back by Terra. I also cut other creatures that didn’t really fit with the overall strategy, like Pitiless Plunderer and Morbid Opportunist. There were some weak spells too, like Crackling Doom.
As for what I added, here’s the list:
Gaius van Balser, Joshua, Phoenix’s Dominant Lightning, Army of One, Loran of the Third Path (Garnet TTA), Squall, SeeD Mercenary, Summon Knights of the Round, Summon Primal Odin
Darkness Crystal, Wind Crystal
Evil Reawakened, Ultima (The board wipe, not the creature)
ambiguous57
Krark the Thumbless so he has to sit through hours of coin flips just to see if you whiff.
In seriousness: just tell the guy to cut it out or find another pod. If he’s the only guy running decks at the level, then it shouldn’t be too hard to make that point.
ambiguous57
I pulled two Ultimecias and Locke during the FF prerelease and had a lot of fun with them. Especially Ultimecia. I even activated the transformation that gives you an extra turn to close out a couple of games. And yet I was too dumb to realize that my control deck was strong enough for me to consistently play the Summon Bahamut that wasn’t in my deck.
ambiguous57
And we have a winner.
I feel dumb for not considering that. I’ve not actually bent any cards yet but, with the force I was having to use, I was sure I eventually would.
ambiguous57
What everyone else is saying correct as is the biggest problem here: MTG is hard to learn in general, and Commander is a particularly hard format for a beginner.
However, even once you are ready for Commander, I could be wrong here, but that deck seems like it would be a hard one to keep up with us a beginner. I’ve been playing Commander for years, recently bought that deck, and I’m still unsure how much I’ll enjoy playing it due to all the counters to keep track of.
ambiguous57
Same mistake here. I first played commander several years ago, and Zur the Enchanter was my first choice. Everyone hated me.
After taking a break for a while, I’m coming back with Terra, Herald of Hope and I’m really hoping I’m not making the same mistake.
ambiguous57
Literally never heard of layers until this thread. What is going on?
ambiguous57
Ah that makes sense. I didn’t really consider having a creature target itself which, yeah, puts it even further outside of Green.
Yeah I quit over a year ago for similar reasons. I’ll check in here every few weeks to see if there’s some big unexpected collab I might like. At this point, it has been so long I doubt I’d play even in that scenario.
Anyhow, I quit for basically the same reasons. Everything left to do was either a massive farming/grinding slog, or it was insanely unfun dungeons where you have to have a guide at all times so you can decipher where you can expect to die in one hit. Plus the constant power creep across collabs got really old. Especially when it was commonplace to need 2-3 of the exact same super high rarity card.
So yeah, if you’re feeling the same, quitting is fine. I haven’t replaced it with another phone game, but quitting definitely freed up time for other stuff.
