You don't say what division you're in but RVS has something similar as others have described for CBE. They will generally ensure your child is in free options, but there is assistance available for people who can't afford fees as well.

We are good. We're fortunate as well for his love of Transformers, that a couple years ago, a local company opened up that specializes in both new and pre-owned Tranformers. So he's been able to collect things like an original Unicron, etc. And the guys who run it are really wonderful, they always look for ways to save him a buck or two... Like his Unicron is missing a small piece so they gave him a huge deal. He was just there last week getting a memorial Optimus Prime, and the corner of the box was scuffed so they gave him $20 off.

I am the parent of an autistic teen who loves transformers. When he was little, Transformers Prime came out and he wanted to collect them. Knowing there were more rare items, I'd go every few days. Unfortunately, one of those scalpers was in with the manager of my local store. Needless to say, the only thing my store ever saw make it to the shelves were Bumblebee, Arcee, and Optimus.
You sir, did the work of heroes protecting things from people who are looking to destroy the joy of others who love particular IPs.

Here, here! I was born in Alberta and am as white as they come, but I have had the absolute pleasure for the last 18 months of having two bright young ladies on my team as they work towards permanent residency and citizenship. It is an absolute crime how our immigrant community is being portrayed.

And now you've uploaded people's personal financial information into an AI engine.
Congratulations on being a massive security risk.

As a longtime Bioware fan from the before days, I respectfully disagree that EA was patient with Bioware. Dragon Age Origins, and Mass Effect were a master class in RPG story telling. When EA acquired them, it felt like they were pushed into the annual game model and I think it did a great disservice to them.

Tell me about it... Cole's Notes were the things other kids got. That said, I love to read to having to do it wasn't too awful. Until we had to read The Grapes of Wrath.

TIL. I'd heard the term Cliffsnotes, but always assumed the speaker had misspoken!

Our industry runs in UTC. The events hit both situations, as well as instances where they often start in timezone 1 and end in timezone 2. Those timezones also do not need to be immediately sequential.
The challenge is that while the background all runs in UTC, I have a group of users who insist on working in local time and apparently it creates some complicated coding to switch the record into UTC for storage.
Those records were set with a 1 hour offset to account for the shift back to standard time, but when we removed that, the system didn't have a mechanism to account for that the way it would if we shifted between time groups normally.
Essentially, it read the permanent DST setting as a new timezone entirely that would come into effect Nov. 1, and treated all the events the same Microsoft does when you move from MST to CST. It assumed that the activities needed to shift accordingly.

It uses something unique to our industry to define a locations timezone. Which is silly in this day and age, but my industry is glacially slow to change. I have equipment that only eliminated zip drives about 5 years ago.

In this case, my province decided to remain on permanent DST. We went from UTC -6 in winter and UTC -5 in summer to always UTC -5. So when they set the new coding, the system too everything that would have been set to Standard time, and assumed that with the new rules it needing to shift an hour later as if we had moved into the next timezone for those items.
Our system allows users to enter using both UTC and local. UTC is considered best practice but unfortunately, my users prefer to use local time.

This isn't a routine time change. This is several provinces deciding to stop doing routine time changes.
And this issue is not limited to my software... Google reported exactly the same problem when then coded the timezone alterations that impacted our situation.
annoyedCDNthrowaway
This isn't a routine time change. Routine shifts are no problem. This is as if my province decided to completely shift into a new timezone.

I would also like to make the observation that in a province with 2.9 million eligible voters, the current count appears to be approx 2 million voted. That's still barely 67%. We have to be better people.
annoyedCDNthrowaway
Why does asking about good places to eat make someone a Karen? If I'm in a new place, the best people to ask are locals when it comes to good food.

You have to be a U.K. citizen to receive a knighthood.
And CEO of Canada? We're a country not a business.

It can store them both ways depending on how the user enters them. If the user enters in Local times (which most of mine do), they're converted to UTC after it's input and saved. If it's entered in UTC in the first place, it would not have been impacted.
Unfortunately, the users are the type that aren't likely to change, they'd much prefer to throw temper tantrums.
annoyedCDNthrowaway
There are multiple world-wide studies that show permanent DST is demonstrably worse for health, productivity, and sleep. It's better than switches every 6 months, but permanent standard time would have been better.
The province I live in decided to go with permanent DST.
annoyedCDNthrowaway
That, dear sir, is a fool's bet!

Cost. We just replaced our roof this year. High-end, hail resistant asphalt shingles came to $17,000. Rubber or Metal $50,000.
I'll be dead before I need to pay for 3 more roofs to match/exceed that price, so from an investment perspective it doesn't make sense to pay that amount, especially since my kids aren't likely to make the money back when/if they sell the house.
The border is straight south. You're welcome to leave.
